 Offenbach, October 10th, 2005:
It was a kind of intimate concert in Offenbach, Germany, at Capitol, with maybe around 600 people and as there was no security area in front of the stage. People where standing directly at the stage and could listen to her even more intensive, what made the concert very special. The setlist was planned similar to the setlist in Nuremberg, but as of a special request from the audience, Heather played Sugar and skipped I Wanna Be Your Light and Island.
The setlist: Redbird / Heart And Shoulder / Maybe An Angel / Just Been Born / Motherland / Walk This World / Fool For You / Mesmerized / I Miss My Sky / All I Need / Singing You Through (acoustic with Berit) / Storm (acoustic alone) / Papercup / London Rain / Winterblue / Done Drifting / Blue Black / Encore: Welcome / Sugar
Tuesday is a day off for Heather and band. Next Heather Nova concert: 2005-10-12 (Wednesday) - Cologne (Germany) - E-Werk

 Brussels, October 1, 2005:
Heather Nova played the second concert of her indoor Redbird Tour 2005 in Brussels, Belgium, at Ancienne Belgique.
It was an amazing gig, one of the best of the past few years, like of the pre-Storm era. A nice, long, rocking set, just like the old days, with fabolous sound.
There was a film in the background on some songs:
- on Fool For You clouds passing buy in the early evening sunlight. - on Mesmerized a blue pattern moving, looking a bit like the surface of water - on Make You Mine a picture of cardiogram moving from top to bottom
She started Redbird with some lyrics of Ruby Red.
The setlist: Storm / Heart And Shoulder / Motherland / Redbird / Just Been Born / Walk This World / Fool For You / Mesmerized / I Miss My Sky / All I Need / The Sun Will Always Rise / Someone New / Walking Higher / London Rain / Winterblue / Done Drifting / Make You Mine / First Encore: Island / Welcome / Second Encore: Everytime
The songs The Sun Will Always Rise, Someone New, and Walking Higher were played as an acoustic set in the middle. Also the opener Storm and final song Everytime were acoustic. On Everytime, she invited everybody to whistle along.
Thanks to Gerd, Didier, Johan, Jelger, Joeri, Geert, dblef.

Heather Nova Concert News : Heather Nova in London, September 30, 2005
|

 London, September 30, 2005:
Heather Nova did the first concert of her indoor Redbird Tour 2005 in London, UK, at Shepherd's Bush Empire.
This was a very special concert, because her long-time cellist Nadia Lanman, who left the band some years ago, made a guest appearance. Nadia was a band member from 1993 till 1999, had played the cello, but also the keyboards on tour and had taken the cello parts on Oyster and Siren.
Together, Heather and Nadia played four songs in the middle of the set for an very intimate acoustic duo spot: Doubled Up, My Fidelity, Truth And Bone, and Water From Wine. As encore they both also performed I'm On Fire. Heather was very emotional. She told about their touring just the two of them and how glad she was to see Nadia again. Nadia's cello spot sounded amazing.
The gig was brilliant, Heather's voice seems to get better and stronger with age. Also a good balance of old and new in the set. Nice to hear Laurie back on drums; although Luke was great; Laurie knows the Heather sound inside out. Berit seemed quiet in the mix but she added a great deal of atmosphere to the sound.
The other Heather Nova gigs on this tour are unfortunately without the guest appearance of Nadia Lanman.
Heather played these songs: Storm / Heart And Shoulder / Motherland / Redbird / Just Been Born / Walk This World / Fool For You / Mesermized / I Miss My Sky / All I Need / Doubled Up / My Fidelity / Truth And Bone / Water From Wine / London Rain / Winterblue / Done Drifting / Make You Mine / First Encore: Welcome / Island / Second Encore: I'm On Fire
As a special surprise Heather was accompanied on the song I Miss My Sky by famous violonist Fiona Pears from New Zealand on violin, who also did one supporting act before Heather's show. Her homepage: http://www.fionapears.com

 Saint Imier, August 27, 2005
Heather Nova played her sixth concert of the Redbird Tour 2005 at Mont-Soleil Festival in Saint Imier in Switzerland. According to our tour correspondent Gerd, she played 18 songs. The setlist:
Just Been Born / Maybe An Angel / Motherland / Done Drifting / Heart And Shoulder / Redbird / Paper Cup / London Rain / All I Need / Storm / I Miss My Sky / Fool For You / Welcome / Like Lovers Do / Make You Mine / Walk This World / Encore: Wicked Game / Sugar
Remarkable is the song Storm, that returned to her setlist, as it was only played in Leipzig before. All other songs were played at the gig before, in Hanau, too. Not Only Human and the two acoustic songs The Sun Will Always Rise and Everytime were left out.
Pictures will follow soon at this website.
At the same day, Eskobar played at Montsoleil Festival. The song Someone New was performed by Eskobar and Heather Nova together.

 Hanau, August 25, 2005:
Heather Nova played her third full length concert of the Redbird Tour 2005 in Hanau, Amphitheater. Again she played a different setlist. Heather Nova surprised with two acoustic songs in the middle of the concert. The Redbird song The Sun Will Always Rise premiered, as an acoustic song with Matt Round. The other acoustic song, Everytime, was played and whistled alone by Heather. Here is the setlist:
Just Been Born / Maybe An Angel / Motherland / Done Drifting / Heart And Shoulder / Redbird / Paper Cup / London Rain / All I Need / The Sun Will Always Rise (acoustic 1) / Everytime (acoustic 2) / I Miss My Sky / Fool For You / Not Only Human / Welcome / Like Lovers Do / Make You Mine / Walk This World / Encore: Wicked Game / Sugar
During Welcome, Heather left the stage and went directly towards the audience. Also, it was very cold on stage.

 Leipzig, August 24, 2005:
Heather Nova played today another open air concert on the Redbird Tour 2005. She performed in Leipzig, Germany, at Parkbuehne. According to our tour correspondent Gerd, it was a very good concert. Heather played, like yesterday, 20 songs:
Just Been Born / Maybe An Angel / Motherland / Done Drifting / Heart And Shoulder / Redbird / Paper Cup / London Rain / All I Need / Mesmerized / I Miss My Sky / Fool For You / Not Only Human / Welcome / Like Lovers Do / Make You Mine / Walk This World / First Encore: Storm / Wicked Game / Second Encore: Sugar
The setlist was very similar to yesterday's Braunschweig gig. Notable are the songs Paper Cup, Storm, and Sugar. Seven songs have been from her album Redbird.

 Braunschweig, August 23, 2005:
Heather Nova played today her first gig on the Redbird Tour 2005 outside a big festival. The concert took place in Braunschweig, Germany, at Feldschloesschen Buehne, an open air venue. According to our tour correspondent Gerd, it was her best concert so far. Heather covered her arms with red color again. She played a full set, containing 20 songs:
Just Been Born / Maybe An Angel / Motherland / Overturned / Done Drifting / Redbird / I Wanna Be Your Light / London Rain / All I Need / Mesmerized / I Miss My Sky / Fool For You / Not Only Human / Welcome / Like Lovers Do / Heart And Shoulder / Blue Black / Make You Mine / Walk This World / Encore: Wicked Game
The setlist was similar to the Lowlands gig on August 21, by starting with Just Been Born, Maybe An Angel, and Motherland again, and also the last three songs were the same, although in different order. Heather played in Braunschweig the two Redbird songs Done Drifting and Overturned for the very first time. So far, the Redbird songs Welcome, Motherland, Redbird, and Mesmerized were performed at all gigs, while she hasn't played Singing You Through, A Way To Live, This Body and The Sun Will Always Rise yet.
All songs were played with full band, there was no acoustic section in the middle or as encore like on other Heather Nova tours before. As a surprise, Heather's drummer Laurie Jenkins sang background vocals on the encore song Wicked Game. The concert had to finish at exactly 11pm, so it was unfortunately only time for one encore song.
Next Heather Nova concert: 2005-08-24 (Wednesday) - Leipzig (Germany) - Parkbuehne

 Lowlands, August 21, 2005:
Heather Nova continued her Redbird Tour 2005 today at Lowlands festival in the Netherlands. According to our special correspondent Gerd, she played a one-hour set with this setlist of 13 songs:
Just Been Born / Maybe An Angel / Motherland / Redbird / London Rain / All I Need / Mesmerized / Fool For You / Welcome / I Miss My Sky / Wicked Game / Walk This World / Make You Mine
Six songs were from the new album Redbird. It was the first time that I Miss My Sky and Wicked Game were played. I Miss My Sky was less produced than on the album. In contrast to yesterday's Pukkelpop gig, her arms were less "bloody" painted, and the setlist was totally different. Also, there were no sound problems anymore.
Heather supported at Lowlands the "Million Faces Project", a campaign jointly run by Amnesty International, IANSA and Oxfam for a "global Arms Trade Treaty".
On Monday, there is no Heather Nova gig.

On July 28th, a new post from Heather on the official site revealed a very pleasant surprise: famed (and missed) cellist Nadia Lanman will once again play with Heather, albeit for one night only. Be there or be square!
Here's Heather's announcement:
summer heat. looking forward to being back on the road - festivals first. then in the fall a tour with your old favourites on stage - berit on guitar, laurie on drums, matt on bass and a new keyboard player, simon, who has a few other tricks up his sleeve.
some treats along the way: in shepherds bush nadia lanman, who many of you will remember as the very lovely and talented cellist will make a guest appearance - something i very much look forward to... anyway, stay cool. and see you soon.

Sadly, Nadia had to stop playing with Heather because of pain in her hands. We hope her reappearance means she's getting better. |
