Website News : Christmas 2008
|
| Posted by gerd on 2008/12/24 0:00:00 (311 reads) |
Only a few days left in 2008. Time to reflect this year. We've got a perfect new Heather Nova Album, "The Jasmine Flower", a three weeks European tour through eight countries, a new video (Always Christmas) and well two live concerts at the internet (Berlin and Amsterdam). I think there are not that many wishes left unaccomplished. So a very big thank you to Heather for doing this to the fans!
As usual I am looking back as well to how our website here developed. After a huge amount of work, we got the website moved to a new server, completely updated in terms of the software (Xoops, MySQL,PHP) and we finally got it secure in terms of attacks. We are still working on some content, like the picture section, which is not completely yet online. Anyway we are making big progress as the website is more popular than ever. We had 1.900.000 visits this year, which is even 50% more than in all the last three years together! That is quite a big step. And more than 100 new members joined our forums in 2008! Thank you and welcome! Again, HNN is a joined effort, so thank you to all admins and members contributing!
Love and Merry Christmas! Gerd |

European Tour 2008 : Heather Nova - European tour 2008 summary
|
| Posted by Bernd on 2008/10/29 23:50:00 (363 reads) |
In the last two and a half weeks, Heather Nova has toured many Central European states. She gave fourteen concerts in United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The European Tour 2008 started in London on October 13 and ended in Paris on October 28.
Heather Nova presented many songs from her brand-new album The Jasmine Flower, which was released a few days before the tour in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In other countries, the fans could buy the album before and after the concerts at the merchandising stand. Also, the "Sorrowjoy CD" and tour shirts were available there.
As Heather stated, the songs from "The Jasmine Flower" were played the very first time ever live before people, only her dog had the possibility yet to listen to the new songs before.
She has sung Ride, Beautiful Storm, Maybe Tomorrow, and Every Soldier Is A Mother's Son at all or almost all concerts. Also, Out in New Mexico, Hollow and Always Christmas were presented at some concerts. In Amsterdam, there was a video shooting for Always Christmas, and the complete show was filmed with many professional cameras. Heather has played the new songs alone on her acoustic guitar, sometimes accompanied only by some backing vocals.
As a surprise, Heather has "covered" her own song Renegade this time. The song was released last year together with German artist ATB, but Heather presented it in her "own version" now, with full band. In the song Winterblue, Heather has added some lyrics from Don Henley's song "Boys of Summer". The songs Not Only Human and Heal have been played without a break between. All other songs on this tour were well-known songs from Heather, ranging from classic Walk This World over emotionally Like Lovers Do to lively Motherland and played with full band as well.
The tour band consisted this year of the following people: Heather Nova at guitar and keyboards (Fool For You), Berit Fridahl at guitar, Bastian Juel at bass, and for the first time Geoff Dugmore on drums, percussions, and cajón (Paper Cup).
Heather Nova played three new guitars, an acoustic sunburned Takamine, a black half acoustic Taylor and a bright acoustic Taylor.
In London, Heather has dedicated the song Paper Cup to her parents, as they have been in the audience.
The Heather Nova Network was on tour as well: many members have been at one, two or three concerts, some members even went to all 14 gigs! Without them, it wouldn't have been possible to do our traditional live coverage of the gigs again. We want to thank all HNN members who have visited the gigs, gave additional background information, setlists, reports, shared photos, or told us what they have felt or thought while visiting the concerts, and we hope you all enjoyed the concerts and the HNN fan meetings before and after the concerts as much as we did. See you next time again! About the gigs, you can still visit our tour discussion board. You need to register before posting messages there.
But even if you couldn't make it to one concert this time, don't worry, there is another chance to see Heather presenting the Jasmine Flower songs! The people from livedome.com have broadcasted in cooperation with HNN and German fansite heathernova.de the Berlin concert live on the internet. You can now watch the full concert in the archives of livedome.com.
We want to thank Heather Nova and her band, her management, and all other people who helped her with this tour. Thank you very much for these unforgettable days!
