Well just a thought, would you help me with the cost for this server to continue this website, which is currently 20 Euro/month without domain and hiding owner name? No idea so how long the hosting provider will allow me to run this old operating system so.

gerd- every once in a while I just do a random search for any Heather Nova sites that are still active, this was actually one of the biggest ones I discovered way back in 2002 when there were a bunch of smaller HN sites. Thanks to big social media, as you mentioned, there aren't many left at all. I haven't been active for over ten years, but I met people from around the world here and formed long distance friendships with many of them that I still have to this day, so this place will always be special to me (sounds weird to say about a web site).
At one point during the '00s the forums here would be active with multiple members at almost any hour of the day, like a live chat room. Shared a lot of laughs, discussed everything, had some heated debates sometimes about HN and all sort of music but always felt like family in our own little corner of the internet.
After years of waiting, I was finally able to see Heather live here in the U.S., twice in Annapolis and Philly in 2016, then with Mishka in Ardmore in 2017. On top of that, I saw her on the Oyster anniversary tour at the Paradiso in Amsterdam in 2017, which was definitely a top 10 concert experience ever for me.
Thanks for keeping this place going for so long and continuing to provide a more personal place for HN fans, I can see that it will be missed by the folks who were still active here. Thanks also to bernd for maintaining the news and discography site.
I'm now married to my beautiful wife Meredith and leading a very happy life at our house filled with music, traveling a lot (including our honeymoon to Japan and Hawaii last year) and always seeing as many live shows as possible.

Thanks so much Michael! I got so much positive nd nice feeback meanwhile! I really think to continue it despite some technical issues behind as it is really old software it running with. Like Windows 98 or MacOS Lion, just to compare.

There is quite some hope it will stay alive. I apprecciate that Bernd and Estelle also opened new connection possibilities as backup or new source.

HNN helped maintain or amplify the links between people who met at HN shows. It also made people connect. Without HNN, I wouldn't have met Arne (IRL) or Cas (just online, but we exchange a lot of email and exchanged a lot). I'd probably had lost the link with JC after we met at a HN show, without this website.

true gerd, it does mean a lot to so many people- I have zero tech knowledge or expertise, but it'd be great if you and others here could find a way to keep it going!

I think I have technical knowledge to keep it running althoug I'm not at all a website expert. But I am a computer scientist with master degree. As long as the hosting provider is not concerned to much it will work.

Actually I met the best ever soul in my life due to this forum!

For sure I can understand their reason to do this.

I've looked at their server possibilities. Currently HNN runs on Linux, CentOS 5. They have a CentOS 7 in their portfolio. I have no idea so if it would work on this new version. I might give it a try but no idea how such transition will work. There are so many things around the forums installed as well as configuration and mailing system etc. where Tim helped me in the past. But there is no help anymore.

I will contact the provider if they can help with the transition. It will cost quite a lot then I guess, which I'm not willing to pay. Let's see. Please Estelle and Bend keep the alternative alive. Probably needed more then ever now.
