soon the new album is out! I am curious how 'Sailing' will sound. I think it will be great! A song that fits to Heathers "life-vibe" : ) ...

The mood of 'Other Shores' is very special, I think. Love it already.🌺

I like all the singles off the album I've heard until now, apart from Fragile which is kind of boring. 'Waiting for a girl like you' is pure heaven though.

Recording quality is excellent. To me it doesn't sound as a cover album. Maybe I'm to much captured by the voice. Love the cello und guitar play.

hey guys. for me OTHER Shores is one of Heathers best work. The sound is excellent never heard her so fragile. The feeling in her voice is incredible.

I've listened to the whole album at midnight,on my couch, only a white candle at the table.

at the end, a few tears run down my face, as I looked at a photo of my beloved dog Shila. Sailing as an acappella, ...
I wished for a guitar here. But Heather got me.

THANK YOU HEATHER.⚘⚘

so, I'll go to sleep now.🌠

bye bye😊

Looking forward to listening later. Waiting on the vinyl to be ordered but Amazon have put it in my digital library too as I bought the vinyl from them which was handy. Can also stream it too.

I have very much the same feeling as sugarbaby! Had the possibility to listen to early recordings but the final result is simply better. Her voice is fragile and haunting and I was not thinking a single second of the original songs while listening. That's why I said it doesn't sound like a cover album. I'm very much impressed that the album turned out this way. Congratulations Heather!

The contribution by Vincent is pretty clear hearable to me as he so much has his special style to play.

I like all songs, apart from Fragile and Sailing. Sailing is without instruments, a capella, which is a bit 'showing off' in my opinion (like Jewel used to do).

Some songs sound different on album than on single (for instance Don't stop believing).

I haven't download any single, simply wanted to wait for the entire album. I haven't neither compared the excerpt of songs that Heather shared on Patreon. I have doubts that different songs are released but it sounds interesting so. Could you be please more precise on the differences?

I haven't compared yet album versions vs. single versions, but I noticed no differences so far. So I am also curious for examples.

I think it's a good album. Although all songs are covers, they all sound very heather-ish. If I wouldn't know the original songs, I wouldn't even think they are covers, expect maybe for Message Personnel, which is obviously a cover, and reminds me of Gloomy Sunday.

I like all songs except Fragile, Ever Fallen In Love, and Sailing, so I think pretty much like Johan.

'Ever fallen in love' sounds like the bossa nova version by Nouvelle Vague.

I'm starting to get into Fragile but I still don't like Sailing.

Waiting for a girl like you is amazing though.

I recommend to listen to the entire album without interruption to get the feeling/spirit of the album.

I agree it works better as a piece of work rather than individual snippets. I’m not going to be playing it to death but it’s a nice mood piece, ideal for a glass or two of wine on the sofa or in the bath.

The album went Top 20 in Germany.

Tbh to me, the best thing about "Other shores" is the recording quality, which is brilliant and Midori’s wonderful cello playing (it saves "Jealous guy" for me).

All in all the album is disappointing for me. Apart from a few songs I’m not fond of "Pearl" either, but now this cover album is definitely my least favourite album by Heather.
Mainly because of the choice of songs. Some of them she has already covered anyway and the other songs are quite unknown and don’t even tempt me to check the original, but "Fireproof", which is a nice cover.

The only two covers I really like are "Fragile" and "Like a hurricane", but I have known both by Heather already before and they are quite similar to these album versions (if not even the same), so actually useless for me buying the cd.
I have always loved "Waiting for a girl like you" by Foreigner, but I get bored listening to this cover version. And I love "Sailing", but no-one beats Roddie for me, especially not this a-capella version. Don’t know why not letting Midori play some lovely cello on it at least.

Hopefully Heather’s next album with her own songwriting will be more attractive to me. Lately I’ve listened to "Glowstars" again after quite a while and found that I still love it very much and that it’s still my favourite album by her, because it’s so special and unique – the songs, the sound and atmosphere.

@57 Arietis : I completely disagree with you. I love all songs apart from Sailing as it's a capella. I think it's a nice pick of songs from different genres. And off course Heathers voice is amazing on all songs.

Btw Heather didn't record this album because she has no new songs of her own (she does) but because she was at home during covid and could not travel to Europe or the Uk to record in a studio, that's why she did it at home.

I'll buy it. At the show, since I'm not as eager to hear it as usual. Which is a good thing, in a way, since I guess Heather gets more money when we buy it directly at the merch during the tour.

Don’t know to what or whom you are referring. I’m alright with a cover album, I just don’t like her choice of songs for this one.
But what has covid in particular to do with a cover album, apart from that she couldn’t record somewhere else. (And you can do a lot of things via internet anyway.) 2008 "The jasmine flower" was released, which was recorded at her home. 2011 "300 days at sea" was released, which was recorded at her home. And back then there was no covid and lockdown in sight. So, strange reason to give.

Midori has some contributions to this album, I guess she and Heather haven't even seen each other personally during the last 2-3 years. Everything works via e-mail and internet.

@ 57 Arietis. After Heathers gig in Ostend she did an interview in her hotel and she said this :

- she has enough new songs of her own
- she recorded acoustic covers at home because she couldn't travel.

Maybe the talk about enough songs of her own was just promo talk or an exaggeration but I'm just quoting her

I don't like 'waiting ...' by Lou Gramm but I love Heathers version.

And I like most bands she covered (Roxy Music, National, Buzzcocks ...).

I think her voice was never in question by 57Arietis!
Most of the covers I never heard before either! So difficult to compare for me! But I do not compare, do I need? Her voice sounds nice and the album has a special nice mood. Thats all. I am much more into her own songs which are authentic.

I know all the originals (apart from 2) and I think Heather did a great job. Most covers are better than the originals imho. I love the Buzzcocks and the National (have seen them both live a few times).

Indeed Heather did a great job on the covers. And Heather did a lot great covers in the past. I still feel not so much connected to the songs compared to her own songs.

In the end, I like the album a lot. It reaches me. I'm with Johan this time : I like all the songs, but I'm not into Sailing for the moment. Waiting For A Girl Like You, Don't Stop Believing, Message Personnel and Fireproof are my favourite so far.

Still, I'm happy I was not too much excited at first, since I suppose more money comes to Heather for albums sold at the merch.

My Other Shores CD is
Rough Trade / Odyssey OMN21638,
while my vinyl is
12" Odyssey OMN21639 (without Rough Trade).

What about your CDs/vinyls? Rough Trade only on CD as on my copies?
