I was wondering why Heather made this cover. It has been covered by so so many artists! But beside that, what was her reason? And without asking, she answered. Maybe she felt the need to do, before we ask?

The best explanation from her statement to me is:

"I started to really get and enjoy the song, and it turned out to be a great reminder to myself to always keep an open mind, and never say never!"


I remember I requested her song "Blind" and somewhere I read "I will never play it again" (likewise). And on the Oyster Tour 2017 it was played and very much welcomed to the audience! I think it would even sound great when she goes solo on tour, without the Cello. I think so a Cello so much belongs to Heather songs, transporting emotions! Well she can do even without, just her voice and guitar on the upcoming tour.

I hope in the album booklet* she will write a few words about each song, why she has chosen it, would be surely interesting.

* I'm old fashioned, I still like album booklets.

I like it ! It's quite different to the original. When I was a teenager, this was a huge hit, I didn't like it then but it brings back a lot of memories.

I also like the cello on 'never gonna ...'. I often miss the cello in Heathers music since the departure of Nadia Lanman.

Yes, it's like a new song, but I like it, as I don't like the original, a typical Stock Aitken Waterman production.

Do we have an indication of when this will be up for preorder elsewhere? It’s not the project that has excited me most of hers (same for any covers album) by any stretch but I fancy getting the vinyl for this release.

The new album cover looks very “signable”. I’m surprised Heather is not doing limited edition signed versions. I know I’d buy two vinyls if so, one regular to play, one signed to frame.

Ordered the vinyl and cd. Too bad there was no download link to the vinyl, so I had to buy the cd as well. 51 € including shipping is not cheap. I hope I can have the lp signed without having to pay for a meet and greet. The songs I already heard are great

I love the National as well but I think this is one of the 'least good' covers by Heather on this album. Well, Heather can sing a manual of a washing machine and it will still sound great, but I prefer 'Waiting for a girl like you'.

I wish that there was somewhere to preorder the album which ships from the UK. Shipping from Germany is a ridiculous price. I know I should be more patient.

I like the cover of Fireproof. so fragile. Heather really got me. I watched the video on my big TV screen, I got goosebumps.The new album will have a very special mood, which I like a lot.👍👍 I like the very stripped down thing of the cover songs. Still hoping that Don McLean's 'Vincent' will be a bonustrack.🙃😉

I don't understand why 11/13 songs are are from the 1970's and 1980's and nothing (!) from the 1990's and 2000's and two songs are from the 2010's. Maybe a Volume I for 1970's and 1980's and a Volume II for 1990's and 2000's and as bonus tracks some 2010's songs would make more sense to me, and as my favorite musical decade was the 1990's, I miss all (!) good songs from that decade, but it's her decision. Also maybe it's just me, but I knew only half of the original songs, and from the original songs, I like only one much (Here Comes Your Man), and two other songs are ok (Like A Hurricane and Ever Fallen In Love) and I don't care about all other original songs, so I'm totally surprised by her choice. Her own musical taste is totally different to mine, I noticed this so often...

But when concentrating so much on 1970's and 1980's and only male original singers are allowed (she told once, sigh), I wonder why there is no single song by Elton John, Billy Joel, or David Bowie, for example We Didn't Start The Fire. These singers would be much more interesting to me than all classic rock songs she has chosen.

The video for Fireproof is very good! Usually not a fan of black/white videos, but I like especially the part with the silhouette.

I'm pretty sure that some parts of the video were filmed in the Admiral's Cave of the Admirality House Park.

Hey Bernd, maybe Heather made a video for Don't Stop Believin before she met Vincent. I feel like the cover song has been played in concerts many years ago, but I'm not sure. Maybe in the back of her mind, she wanted to do a covers album but didn't have enough she wanted to do for an album until this time around. Also, I'm not sure how rights are involved since the album is a covers album.

You can cover any song released in the public domain, you just can’t sample the original without permission.

Second - asking lawyers what is allowed and what isn't allowed also costs money.
