Very interesting interview with Heather.

This interview is from summer 2019, but I hadn't heard it before. It was made for a radio station in Toronto, Canada, I guess. Her album "Pearl" was released a few weeks later.

For example, Heather talks about her Canadian origins in Nova Scotia, how her parents met, also how she met Vincent first in 1995 and how she reconnected to him decades later, and other things.

(Heather's part is the first 35 minutes.)

... which explains the "make up for lost time" lines in Pearl (in Just Kids, if my memory works well).

A really lovely and stunning story about her parents. And that she had already known Vincent before, though I wasn't able to understand the place (a ...palace?) where they had met the first time.
Heather seemed very relaxed and open during this interview.

Ah, the legendary unplugged show where half of the band didn't make it through the Canadian border line, so it was close to be cancelled!

Only Heather Nova, Nadia Lanman (cello), and David Ayers (guitar, bass) made it to the show.

From the old mailinglist, a review:

I was at that show - it was at Lee's Palace in Toronto on October 31, 1995,
with Ben Folds Five as the openers (they are also an underappreciated band -
underappreciated by media, not by the fans - don't get me wrong there). It
was sold out and for good reason! Heather was fantastic, not to mention
Nadia and the old guitarist (David - I think it was). Heather had told us
that there was a problem getting the rest of the band through customs - I
can't quite remember why, but I think it had something to do with the fact
that you need a visa to play in Canada, because technically they are working
and selling (merch) so they need some special papers and basically, they had
been stuck at the border so long, that it was H. N. & D. or a cancelled
show....big choice. It was a fantastic show, full of candles, flowers,
incence, lights, and the best part - it was accoustic! She has one of those
spine tingling voices that puts you in a trance and makes you feel like
you're in heaven (hope you all agree). Anyhoo, that's my knowledge of the
situation - Hope it helps some!

I went through Heather's tour dates this afternoon and noticed that Heather performed three times in the Lee's Palace in Toronto, the location where Heather met Vincent for the first time. As Heather mentioned it was 23 years ago and the interview is from year 2019 I thought it might be the gig on March 13th, 1996.

By the way, speaking of Mahone Bay, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada, where she spent so many summers in her childhood (13:48) visiting her maternal grandmother, this is Mahone Bay:

and this is Lunenburg, just nearby:
