I think I should open a thread for Radiohead, the best band in the world (to my mind).

Here are some official videos and songs you might know:

I love Thom Yorke’ s sensitive and sometimes rebellious falsetto voice. Radiohead’ s songs are always surprisingly different and creative.

This is Austin Brock’ s Radiohead Channel, which contains full concerts and live appearances:
http://www.youtube.com/user/AustinBrock/videos?sort=p&view=0
Enjoy!

This is their official website:
http://www.radiohead.com
(in the “Dead air space” you can find many interesting activities. Radiohead is socially engaged and fights for human rights and for environment protection, etc. …).

And they are on tour until the end of the year …

Listened by chance to Radiohead's "Creep" after a long time yesterday and had to think of you then

@Bene:

Wow, first post in this thread. Thanks! Nice to hear/ read from you, Bene. You surely thought of me because I might be the only Radiohead-fan you know, right? I hope you enjoyed listening to "Creep". Unfortunately they only sing this song rarely live, because Thom Yorke hates this song.

Well, yes, you're maybe not the only Radiohead fan I know, but definitely the first who comes to my mind
Hm, he hates "Creep"...? Probably because it is the best-known song from the band, maybe that's a bit annoying for him, can't blame him for that, even though of course, I like it very much.

@Bene:

Oh, and one further fact comes to my mind: in the old (german) Heather Nova forums we had a discussion about Radiohead, yes ...

Regarding to the song "Creep" I found this Wikipedia-article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creep_%28Radiohead_song%29

This should be the last time they played this song live:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRy0AUcjbx4

I think you can see that - in some moments - he really seems to be bored about this song. Well, but futhermore there is the fact that his left eyelid is dropped (due to several operations, because his eye was fixed shut after his birth), there is surely the problem that those people who don' t like him, could tend to call him a "creep" and a "weirdo". I think this could be the major problem, but I' m not sure.

Well, but now I just hope that I' m not boring - you.

Thanks for the information, Sabsi. No, I'm not bored, I'm too curious for the story behind some songs (songs that deserve the curiosity), I guess

Whatever his reasons for not liking the song anymore might be, maybe it somehow should be a consolation for him, that many people just still like (to listen to) it.

Personally the video to "Street Spirit" is one of my favourites.

I totally agree. I love the song and the video as well. But my no. 1 is the song - and the video - "There there" - followed by "Street Spirit". I think all of their videos are very interesting and never boring. They are very artful, creative and intelligent.

By the way:

But I think you knew this cover-version yet, yet, didn' t you? It' s always very interesting for me to listen to other Radiohead-cover-versions.

Regarding R.E.M. I know that Thom Yorke and Michael Stipe are good friends. In this concert he dedicates a song to R.E.M. (who sit in the audience):

Edit:
and here they sing the duett:

Oh, well, no I didn't know that cover yet - sounds quite "pearl-jam-ish", but on the other hand a little bit strange as well...nevertheless a nice "hommage" to Radiohead.

So there seem to be quite a few connections between these bands, I know of duets of Pearl Jam and Bono as well, nice to see that there exists a respect between each other instead of senseless rivalry.

Yes, it' s really nice to see that some really famous and influential artists are good friends and don' t share the vanity fair around them.

This makes me think of another social commitment:

In November 2010 Thom Yorke took part in the video “2 Minute Silence”(and Bryan Ferry as well ).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEyvYdstzdo

It’ s the first ever silent song in the charts. It’ s really remarkable and I love his expression in this video! He is so authentic in everything he does …

One picture, taken from this video, is currently my desktop-wallpaper. Well, I’ m looking forward to the concerts this year and this enhances my anticipated pleasure.

The new Greenpeace-„Save the Arctic and polar bears“-campaign film features the Radiohead track "Everything In Its Right Place” (and Jude Law is the speaker in this film).
But, attention: this is not a real bear, although it really looks authentic. Two Greenpeace-activists are hidden in the bear costume.

I read an interesting article in a german music magazine, called “Musikexpress”.
In this article they listed the different periods in his career as a musician.
Thom Yorke said that he hit the rock bottom of his career when he performed the following gigs at “MTV Beach House“ in 1993:

„Creep“
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAwvLo5yQlg

and

„Anyone can play guitar“
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXUBE_wiPtU

(he adds the lyrics with the lines “I wanna be Jim Morrison. Fat, ugly, dead.” At the end he jumps into the swimming pool …).

Oh my! Poor Thom. Well, but now he seems to be happy and well-balanced. Furthermore he is a vegan.

Can’t wait to see and enjoy them live.

This is my favourite song for some months:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGWSy1YnhNI

Enjoy it!
The "Amnesiac"-album is one of my favourite albums, now.

Last weekend I saw Radiohead in Berlin (on Saturday and Sunday as well) and I' m still wallow in memories. It was fantastic!!! It was very cold in the evening, but it was okay and it was totally worth it!!

This is just a short video (not from me, although I stood right next to the person who filmed the video - standing in the front row), showing Thom Yorke talking to the audience and joking a bit (so sweet!! ):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_veOg21CoY

First of all he allows the audience to film!!! It was grrrreat!!!! In the entrance the security took away the cameras of some fans and this was the reaction of Thom Yorke.
Then, after 05:20 min. (the song was recorded in a bad quality, so you don' t need to listen to it), he says that it' s cold and there is a false start from a musician ... really nice and funny! It was a wonderful evening ... so glad that I went to Berlin.

Looking forward to Cologne, now.
