Mishka also put out a new album in November, which I hadn't realized.

Thinking of finally going to see him when he comes by here next month.

On The Journey, the song entitled Catch The Train is the same song as Still Got Love from his first album. Different recording, thought, this time without Heather's backing vocals.

(Just discovered this listening to track previews on Amazon.)

Mishka!

What a fantastic show tonight. Lovely little venue and there was a nice crowd of, I donno, over 100 people? Some people were more in the back and taking at times, unfortunately - probably regulars of the venue. But there was a good crowd of about 100 or so near the stage who were big Mishka fans - singing along sometimes and generally really into it.

Mishka himself was just great. I was blown away by his voice and passion. Came across as authentic. Very skilled. Would recommend his show to anyone.

Afterwards I got to tell him that my friends in Europe strongly recommended the show. And he signed a CD for me - alas I wasn't able to stop by home and grab my CD so I bought his new one, Journey, and had him sign that.

Also cool seeing him interact with other people. He was very patient and seemed very touched. And his fans seemed very touched by his music. One fan gave him a painting of him. Another told a personal story involving his family that Mishka listened close to and seemed moved by. It kinda reminded me of Heather's poem about him, Blue-eyed Lion. Just a very warm atmosphere

The opening act, Sarah Blacker, was good. Like Mishka, she had a very strong rhythm and powerful voice.

At one point during the concert, some fans said they missed him on the east coast and asked him to come back. He had said he wanted to take us with us after we sang along to a song and asked us to bring more people with us next time. The venue was only about half full maybe? Definitely could have had more people. But there was lots of passion.

Oh, and he also told a story behind his song, Lonely. He was 25 (99) and living in London during a heatwave with chicken pox and dealing with heartbreak. Apparently chickenpox when you're 25 is really bad.

Partial setlist. I know I'm missing two or three songs. And I probably got the order wrong on some of these.

Listening to the recordings to figure out what the songs are called, I'm struck by just how much better they are live. Mishka needs to release a live album.

I admit I was really happy when Mishka finally played Stars Will Be Shining as the last song before the encore. Was worried he wouln't play it.

All Of This Time
Love And Roots
Constant Revolution
Long Road
Above The Bones
Love and Devotion
Homegrown
One Tree
As You Are
Worth The Wait
Ocean Is My Potion
Lonely
Stars Will Be Shining
--
Coastline Journey
Guy With A Guitar

Listening to those songs from the NJ show, I think Mishka also played Never Give Up On You in Virginia.

Yeah, the album "Roots Fidelity" was released a few weeks ago for pledgers, and will soon be released for all.

Last winter there was this quote in The Royal Gazette:

"Mishka says his new album, which will be called Roots Fidelity, is being created to take listeners back to the fundamentals of reggae. (...) He and his sister Heather have been talking about collaborating on Roots Fidelity — something they have done before on his self-titled debut album."
http://www.royalgazette.com/article/20141229/NEWS/141229843

But unfortunately it looks like there was no collaboration with Heather. At least I don't hear her voice on the album.

Looks like Mishka will be playing on his own in the UK shortly after his last date with Heather. Maybe she'll be there?

I forgot Heather will play in Israel on the 11th. Still, she might come back to London before going to Bermuda, so it's still possible she'll be there.

Mishka will be on U.S.tour from the 17th to 29th of May with a quick detour to Bermuda on the 28th of May, where he will play at Chewstick in Hamilton. Pretty sure that Heather will join him for this evening.
Oh well, I wish I could beam myself there...

Mishka is about to play on Saturday (= tomorrow) in Bermuda at a small local festival supporting Chewstick.

http://www.mishka.com/

His plan was arriving at Bermuda Airport today and playing at the festival tomorrow. Not sure yet if the airport will be open today due to yesterday's hurricane, and if the festival can take place tomorrow.

At the Villain & Saint in Bethesda, MD. Mishka set to play in half an hour, I believe. Well, opening act perhaps.

Show started two and a half hours late (traffic), but was great. Band consisted of a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, drummer, and a percussionist - plus Mishka singing and play guitar for much of the set, but not all.

Tiny, tiny venue but a good crowd. After the encore, loud chants of "one more song" got a second encore - As You are played just with Mishka and two band members.

I knew about half the songs well. It was kinda funny to not hear Heather's backing vocals on some songs - the bassist also did falsetto backing vocals to hit that part, but I kept hearing Heather in my head.

Band was super talented and the show was very, very loud. Kinda hurt my ears a little at first but it was good. Reggae/rock/blues - maybe that's roots reggae? I am no expert on the genre.

Gotta say the bassist (bass guitar) was really impressive. He even performed right next to Mishka. I do really like good bass so it was quite a treat.

Certainly was nice just taking a quick bus home especially since the concert went so late. He played only a few miles from where I live.

Highly recommend the show to anyone who likes Mishka's music.

Mishka stopped by and said hi to me which was nice. Also said hi to a couple fans I met at previous shows and talked with someone on Mishka's tour who I got to know on the last tour.

Mishka played Villain & Saint again in Bethesda last night, the last show on his mini tour.

His cousin, Johnathan Frith opened and also came on stage during the encore to sing a song with him. They sounded good together.

Was just Mishka and a drummer this time. Pretty normal mix of songs in recent years with a couple surprises, including a new song that will be from Mishka's next album it seems.

Tiny venue, as before, and there were maybe 40 people there at most, but some hardcore fans and it was a great vibe. Sound was actually really nice in the venue, especially if you got in the right spot where a lot of people were standing.

Mishka has started yesterday a new Kickstarter campaign for his 7th studio album "This Love".

Interesting items. A postcard from Maui! Planting trees! And I didn't know he is painting as well!

I guess it was like that! Thank you for the pic!
Love this waterstyle painting!

Is it just me, well I don't see pics on the kickstarter page.

I think the stomp box is a very desirable item for a musician as it is designed by somebody who know what the sounds need to be.

I would love to ever be able to play a guitar like he does.
