All,

I have just received this good news from the German fanbase heathernova.de.

The new studio album will be released on 10th October 2009. :) She might also bring it along to her concerts.

I hope you mean 10th October 2008!

Heinz got an official press release from SonyBMG, with the information that SonyBMG will release on October 10 the new Heather Nova studio album "The Jasmine Flower".

(Weirdly, on amazon.de, the new album is already listed, but with the name "Dark Horse Heart".)

Tracklisting:
------------
1. RIDE
2. BEAUTIFUL STORM
3. MAYBE TOMORROW
4. OUT ON A LIMB
5. EVERY SOLDIER IS A MOTHER'S SON
6. OUT IN NEW MEXICO
7. LOOKING FOR THE LIGHT
8. HOLLOW
9. IF I SHOULD DIE
10.SAY SOMETHING
11.FOLLOW ME IN GRACE
12.ALWAYS CHRISTMAS

I just wonder why the album has a different name in the press release ("The Jasmine Flower"), and in German online shops (You can already preorder it as "Dark Horse Heart")?

And what happened with the Best-of album?

I prefer getting a new album (12 nex songs) than a mix of London Rain, Heart And Shoulder and I'm No Angel with 1 or 2 bonue song.

Yeah sure, I just wondered what happened with the best-of album.

I wrote something in the news...

Absolutely fantastic news; screw the "best of" album, this is what I have been waiting for - it's even better that Heather has kept it under wraps and we now only have to wait a few more weeks to hear it; I am so happy - this has really made my day

I hope it's not as happy an album as Redbird, but the songtitles seem promissing !

Yes, I agree the song titles do sound interesting and potentially darker in tone; I must admit I do prefer DARK HORSE HEART for an album title (wonder if that was a tie in with lyrics from Paper Cup), anyway maybe if the album is darker (and here's hoping!) Heather decided on the change of title at last minute to lift the mood somewhat and show that there was some element of light to it; you must agree THE JASMINE FLOWER conveys so much more in the way of hope that the aforementioned DHH title - either way it's great news; all we need now are some sound bytes and a sneak peak at the artwork; all in good time though - this news will keep my spirits up for more than a few days yet; let the countdown begin...

Wow, such great news! Wonderful!
The titels look promissing and it seems as if Heather has been working with some current events in the songs. Very nice, that we can hear some/all? of them live on toutr shortly afterwards!

Oh, it's going to be a great autum and winter (for me) with all the new releases!

Hello all, its been a while. Fantastic news about Heather's new album. One notable omission from the track listing is Higher Ground which surprised me as I thought it would be a certain inclusion. Can't wait to hear it though.

andyg, you can d/l "higher ground" from her myspace.

.

i quite like "the jasmine flower" as a title and it is closely linked with the tiltes of the album, since it means "gift from God".

also, the fact that these flowers blossom during the night is also a hint that not all beauty/facets of humankind or of a phenomenon are open at first sight -- or only to be seen from a specific perspective.

Thanks Matt. I do have it on my computer but was surprised that it is not on the album as it is such a great song.

That was sudden! I can't believe we didn't know till now... I also hope this is real. The Amazon.de listing seems to be down. I hope they're organized enough to get this listed soon around their distribution area. I also wonder about country specific release dates.

The title of the album seems very different for Heather. As do some of the song titles, like "Every Soldier Is a Mother's Son", "Out In New Mexico", "Follow Me In Grace", and "Always Christmas".

I wonder if "Ride" could be "Ride Away", the lost track only played at one concert with bad quality. I would doubt it, though. I also wonder if "If I Should Die" will have any connection to "Drink It In". I'm cool with "Higher Ground" not being here as I want new stuff and it wasn't one of my favorites.

Overall, the album looks like it might have some sort of religious tone, which would be very odd for Heather, so I'd expect just her general spiritual type stuff. I a little weary about songs based on current events as Heather Nova seems to do best with the emotional and personal, but then again, I Miss My Sky was about real events, so ESIAMS could be good too. Plus it probably won't mention anything real from the world.

Just a bit more than a month to go, though. This is definitely good news.

The song "Every Soldier Is a Mother's Son" might be something like Kate Bush's fantastic song "Army Dreamers"?

An interesting title for the new album... I wonder if there's any chance of it being release on vinyl as well?

I would've wanted Higher Ground to be on there, maybe it's a bonus track! lol, I don't think any of the albums have had a surprise track besides certain versions of Oysters having a surprise clip.

and so, simplicity is the order of the day ("simplicity is all we need"); I must say I was looking forward to a more heavier guitar based album this time around - anyway I'm sure it will still be good; like the idea of some unsettling lyrics, that should be interesting; and of course a more stripped down sound (STORM part II ??) does means we get Heather's gorgeous vocals in all there purity...

It looks like she's alternating now between loud and quiet albums... South - Storm - Redbird - The Jasmine Flower

Great! I prefer a new album much more to a best-of. And the title and her announcements are very promising, just guitar and some strings sounds very good to me. I especially liked the part where she admits that her songs made her uncomfortable and so seem to be good to her. That's very honest of her to share this.

Well, let's count the days...

There's a listing on amazon.de, but it doesn't look terribly finished or official. I haven't seen anything that actually has the cover, which is the point I'd start trusting things.

Any chance this might be released in the US? (I know, just wishful thinking, but I had to ask.)

This is extremely exciting news! I can't wait! From what Heather wrote, the album sounds so amazing. I love the name of it. My favourite flower is jasmine, so I'm immediately attracted.

Roll on October!

Most likely the album will be available on iTunes/USA.

Haven't yet heard of any other country than germany so far in terms of CD releases. I think it is just to early yet to say where it will be released. Even the album cover is unknown yet.

Great news that there's a bonus live CD as well (even better if it had been a DVD, but maybe I'm being greedy!).

Does anyone know if this will be a limited edition version or not?

That's Great News and just what I needed to hear as I'm having a lousy week at work.

I wonder what the tone of the album will be like?
Whatever it is, I'm sure it's gonna be worth the wait.

I'll be hitting Amazon to get my order in. It's good that it comes out just before the tour too.

It's nice to hear this (very unexpected) news from Heather. I was getting frustrated with the lack of any official word from her and her management and the problems with her website, so this comes as a welcome surprise. Hopefully it'll be a strong new collection of songs.
