I cannot vote. well not yet. I do know a few names, but don't know their music!

@Bernd, why not posting links to sound clips?

Because I'm interested in the people who already know these bands/artists and I would like to know if they can recommend these bands/artists to me. I'm not interested in the votes of the people who haven't heard of them before.

This is no vote if you like these bands/artists, but if you can recommend them to me.

So if you don't know a name, don't vote for them.

I saw Blonde Redhead once live, and they are pretty good, a cross between Sonic Youth and Lush.

Regina Spektor makes music that is pretty similar to Tori Amos' music.

Cat Power is weird.

Why not adding Charlotte Martin to the list? I can highly recommend her!

There was an interview with Ms. Cat Power in the German "Spiegel" magazine last week.

Oh, nothing special, I had the impression; why she makes covers of famous songs etc.
I mean, nothing that made me say "oh, who would have thought that!".

Heh! You remember LUSH. Awesome. I bought their album in London just before Christmas, after having a fit of nostalgia in Camden

As for Cat Power, I found her manner, in concert, really off-putting: the bad side of diva-esque

I've heard a few of the Cat Power albums, only liked some of the songs from You are Free.
My little sister (age 16) loves Regina Spektor.

Is Kelley Deal still making music?

Only know the other bands by name

As far as I know, she has no solo project anymore. She is still a member of The Breeders, of course.

Hello Saferide. Cery creative lyrics with nice easy melodies. And she's Swedish!

Wooooo!

If you talk about Cat Power, you need to pick which area cos her career's evolved so much.. She's really talented in any case.

Regina Spektor as well, but that goes without saying.. Really cheeky and smart lyrics.

Hello Saferide is sooo good as well! Is it a cliché if i say she sounds totally Swedish? *bag*

The Murmurs, i dunno, it's hard to find more of their stuff but they've got this 90's indie-rriot kirl kind of sound...

And Blonde Redhead, i think is really good live but of course i'd definitely recommend them.. 8)

But i don't know which i'd pick... Depends on your mood, i guess. ;)

Oh and i really don't think R.Spektor sounds like Tori Amos..
It'd be like saying Heather sounds like Sheryl Crow..

I have seen Blonde Redhead a few times. They have been around forever. They seem pretty average to me, and I don't think they're very genuine. For example, the last time I saw them was still a few years before they were very known. Watched the opening bands and everyone was respectful and not many people were near the stage. At the very instant the last opening band put their instruments down, a throng of 30-50 people crowded the stage for Blonde Redhead and were total pricks. I have never seen anything like that before, BH was not going to be playing for another hour or so.

Their music will never live up to that weird experience for me. I'll never be able to like them. I suspect many of those people were in their entourage.
