Bernd, have you heard that Belly has reunited and has a new album coming out, and tour planned? Not an April Fool's joke, I promise. :)

OMG! I knew it was happening but I didn't realize there was a Portland date yet! Awesome, thank you!

I saw Tanya Donelly (tour for her Beautysleep album) once back when we lived in L.A. It was a terrific show, of course. But I've never seen Belly and I never thought I would. So yea! The long-awaited-for-but-unlikely-to-ever-happen-tours are happening in my life suddenly! Who knew that I just had to wait to get old?

I hope they get to where you can see them, Bernd!

I saw Loreena McKennitt today for the first time, and it was so beautiful!

Here my favorite song from her, which she has sung today as well (based on some famous poem from the 19th century, but music by her, as far as I know).

Great setting of that poem and Loreena has really got a wonderful voice! I only own her Christmas album but her music or her interpretations of songs are really unique.

Tracy Chapman – Let it rain
Tori Amos – Scarlet's Walk

Hearing them after quite a while, I found I like these albums still so much. My favourite one by Tracy, and "Gold Dust" is one of Tori's masterpieces imho.

I especially love her performance of "The water is wide" with the Indigo girls and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Awesome singing and guitar playing. The one with Damien Rice was great as well.

Oh, definitely worth the money!

Before buying it, I was a bit skeptical, because I heard a few songs before on Youtube etc., but of course this isn't a very good sound quality. Now on CD with very good sound quality, each of those songs is much, much richer than I thought.

The booklet is very nice with an introduction to each song, when it was written and about its inspiration. A few songs on this album are already up to 30 years old, written during The Celts era!

On the other side, there are also some newly written songs on it. Not sure if this is really an "album" then, with some red thread in it. A collection of old songs, finally being recorded, filled up with a few new songs, with no very big surprises. But each song is really nice and still very good!

During the third song, I thought it's Kate Bush...

Here are three reviews in German, I can agree to all of them.

For me Loreena Mc Kennitt is a fantastic artist !

For exemple, her concert in spain, was an incredible moment
of music.

In this concert, "The Mumers Dance" :

Thanks for your impressions and the links!

I had a listen to the samples last weekend and though they are only 30 seconds each, I enjoyed them as I already liked "Breaking of the sword".

Loreena’s voice is amazing. She sounds and even looks really like as if she was coming straight back from some ancient, Celtic times and place.
Soo pleasantly different to most of this stuff played on the radio nowadays.

James Bay. I love his album 'Chaos and the Calm'. Now there is a new record out. I think it is very different from his first one. But the acoustic versions on Youtube are amazing.

James Bay - Slide

James Bay - Us

James Bay - Wild Love

Loreena McKennitt's "Lost Souls" is currently #5 in the German album charts. She never had such a high position in Germany before!

It’s the first time I’ve checked the Austrian charts after 15 years or so. And I know why.: https://acharts.co/austria_albums_top_75

Seems Loreena is much more popular in Germany – great!
Thought of downloading "Lost souls", but I’ll buy it next week as a physical cd as I wouldn't have the booklet otherwise.

"Lost souls" – wonderful album for dreaming away into another world. And I love the words of the introduction and about the songs. It was worth buying the physical cd with the booklet. Thanks for the hint, Bernd!

(And just seen: the album made its entry at least at no. 13 in the Austrian charts now this week.)

As you may know, Moira Lambert has backing vocals on Heather's song These Walls. Funny to find out Moira Lambert is the singer in this classic song (Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Saint Etienne) as well:

Both songs are from 1990.
