Here is another suggestion i like to make for people who like to explore "new" artists.
Vienna Teng is a San Francisco based singer/songwriter, playing the piano, with very sensitive lyrics, although she also has her dark side sometimes shining through in her lyrics (My Medea for instance)

On youtube there are quite some live snaps available.
She will play a few dates in the USA in Sept and then "tour" netherlands and germany in October, so make sure you be there!
I specifically recommend Nothing Without You, My Medea (the Library performance in Sunnyvale has a few words on the song) and also The Tower.

I know her. Her new album "Dreaming through the noise" is a dream. Very smooth voice and the lyrics are good as well! Maybe i will go to her Stuttgart gig .

On her website are unfortunatelly no audio clips of this album.

On her website you'll find links where you can order tickets for each individuell concert. And be the early bird and catch a good seat. Seems like most of the concerts are seated.

For Darmstadt, where I will go to, only maybe 15 tickets are sold yet. So i got a very good first row seat and already printed my ticket on the printer at home.

ticket price was 20,80 Euro.

First of all...i only know Viennas "Dreaming through the noise", but thats really good . It's varied and i love Viennas smooth voice. I've listen also to the two other albums at amazon. I think the first album "Waking Hour" is touching and melancholic, but the second one "Warm Strangers" isn't that melancholic. I was quite impressed from the live videos on youtube. Well you posted a link to the Harbour song.

I just ordered online a ticket for another Vienna Teng concert. it is on the 12th of october in Heidelberg, Karlstorbahnhof, where recently Anna Ternheim performed.
The ticket costs just 16.40 Euro !!
It is a nice small venue where you can be close to the stage!

I so much appreciate if you can talk to the musicians and to get more information about them and to give direct feedback of your impression of a concert. Most of the time i talked with the violin player. i felt a bit(? ) in love with her! She is sooooo nice! I talked for a while in Heidelberg with her already. I gave her a DVD with my video recordings i did there.

I was considering to go to another concert of Vienna on sunday, but i already have a concert ticket for another event on that day. just 50km away from where Vienna will perform.

ok, i will keep it in mind :P - it turned out pretty fine. might consider a short period upload on one of the live-recording torrent sites.

and yes, the violin player is cute. I think they noted my Berkeley Uni t-shirt . I was pretty prominent in first row, 2m from percussionist.

I really felt too tired to stay. Tonight again a concert!

The concert of friday night was another gem. A small arthouse/cultural center theatre, Lantaren/Venster. ( I once was there with the Rotterdam International Film Festival known for its focus on Asian movies, and watched here an 11 hour Filipino movie)

Vienna Teng played for over an hour a very nice set, essentially a selection of the tour set. After a break of 30 minutes Luka Bloom played some 75-90 minutes on his guitar.

It was a very entertaining evening, and was able to exchange a few words with Vienna Teng. Most of the audience came for Luka Bloom, but Vienna Teng got, like in Amsterdam, a standing ovation. (the theatres are seated)

Vienna Teng has a new album out since February 6th 2009. I've got the new album "Inland Territory" today. There are beautiful songs on it, like "Augustine", "Watershed" and "St. Stephens Cross" as example.

Good thing as well, she is on a big tour! Currently touring in the USA. In March touring in Germany, The Netherlands, Austria and Italy. In April and May lots of concerts again in the USA.

The new Vienna CD is fantastic! I can't believe she is coming back here to Iowa! It will be so great to see her live again. :)
