Hi Gerd !

If you haven't seen her, you should give it a try (I still have a NATO-ID maybe it would be usefull in this case - just kidding).
I've seen her three times so far, and the show is really excellent . But you cannot compare it to Heather at all. There's a lot of interaction with the audience and also a lot of show (dancers, artitst - but really worth seeing) and her voice is magnificent.
But the three concerts were all really the same: same line up, nearly the same talk, ...

But if you go, try to stay on the *left* side of the stage, maybe somewhere near the stairs on stage (you'll see them) - I'll promise you, it is really worth it

Nice to you

A friend just propose me to go & see Knopfler in Lyon in April. I don't know yet if I'll go , but I need so much to see concerts, I probably will. Do you want to come with us ???

I'm so much in despair that I'm thinking of going to see Francis Cabrel in Grenoble

I will not go to work on that day as it would cost me hours. So just a bit emails and stuff in the home office. But I will definitely try to go to the concert. Maybe by train and very early. But they will stop the trains too for a while as of Bush.

Many thanks for this hint to stay on the left side

My friends are very nice !! Didn't succeed to convert them to Heather however
And Mark Knopfler is... oh well Julie you don't know him ??!! I don't know him alot and I'm not a big fan but I went to see him 4 years ago (with the same friends who are fans) and I did like the concert alot.
It's expensive however

I just love his work, especially the stuff from Dire Straits, but also the soundtrack from the movie Wag the Dog is amazing
I've seen him live once and it was magnificent. He's coming to Austria, too, this spring and I'm considering going again, but I'm not sure, tickets are really expensive

Their early work was very good... Knopfler also played for a brief time with legend Chet Atkins.

Chet Atkins actually sent the material for inclusion on the album, "Neck and Neck", they were not present in the recording studio together when the album was recorded, as presumably they had commitments, but they were interviewed together on BBC radio.

Atkins' name and sound was synonymous with the Nashville country music world before he died.

Not a lot of concerts planned ...

Next week I'm going to see Lunascape in Deinze (again )

In March I'm going to see the reunited Dead can dance twice ! Yes !
Once in The Hague, and the week after that in Brussels.

I've got 2 tickets for U2, which I bought for a colleague, but he doesn't need them anymore, which means I can sell them (I'm not going myself).

Even if you're young, you've probably already heard a lot of song by Dire Straits. When I went to see Knopfler, I did know half of the songs of the concert even if I had never listened to their records. (A friend made me listened to some solo stuff though)

Cat Power is playing here Monday night. I'm thinking of going. Mostly out of curiosity. I want to see onstage breakdowns and hear mid-song random monologues and see fans get pissed off.

Can this be the concerts you've been to thread as well?

Last night, we went to see our friend Kat Parsons play at The Viper Room, a place made famous by River Phoenix dying outside it. But it's not a terribly special place. Just another dark club on the strip with overpriced parking and drinks. Anyway, Kat was great. Kat is always great, but she really rock-starred it up for that show. She even had an upright bassist and a cellist playing with her, in addition to the rest of the band. I hadn't seen her do that before. The audience really liked her and enjoyed her set. That makes me happy.

We're still trying to decide if we should go to the Cat Power show tonight.

Anyway the samle links on her website doesn't work for me either. I found this little piece

So don't marry her, since she would loose attractiveness then for you, since being not married "makes her even more attractive".

That sample is very good. She has a very expressive melodic vocal sound, and the piano sounds very nice. I'd say if you're a Tori Amos fan, you'd love her work, based on the sample.

I'm prepared to buy this new album of hers, based on that one sample... there's an offer on her website, about buying three for $55... if anyone else is interested, let me know...

http://www.katparsons.com/music.htm

$20 for each PERSONALIZED/SIGNED copy of the new album (way before anyone else gets it!)
$55 for 3 PERSONALIZED/SIGNED copies of the new album (way before anyone else gets it!)

Wow, I'm glad you guys like her. I could send you an mp3 or two if you wanted to hear more.

I can see the Tori comparison, but her music is definitely more pop than Tori's. And it's not all piano-based, she plays guitar, too. But always with her great voice, and yes, like Darren said, very melodic and expressive.

It's a good album. I doubt anyone who liked "We Deserve More" would be disappointed with it.
