It's a matter of interpretation, he's just a bit bitter. (towards life). I'm not, i try to see joy in the smallest of things.

Nothing bad happened to me today. But Su's cat was inside the wall for a couple of hours and had them quite worried. He came out though, finally.

The virtues of balance...

There was a bomb scare at the train station underneath my building this morning. I had to take the bus to work.

Umm... I got a needle stuck in my arm. I wasn't against my will, of course, but I still hate it. So do my veins. They always hide. That makes it worse. After a few unsuccessful attempts in the normal spots, they have to take it from somewhere more painful.

I can't remember the last time a needle was put in my arm. Just my mouth, ow.

Well, I still remember the trauma caused by a needle being stuck in my third toe when I was little...

I had so many needles and injections in my body already, it's no problem. Well, I was seriously ill as I was 17. I got some liquid antibiotic as infusion in my left hand for weeks (with a new hole every two days) and three times a day some injection in my belly to avoid thrombosis. Have I already said that I lied in a plaster basin (is this the right word?) for months, and I was lying three whole months in that damn bed, without having the possibility to get up or lie on the side or move? All I could move was head, arms, and legs (but the legs only a little). I was three months like a turtle what lies on its back. I wasn't even standing or walking one single time in these three months. I was always in bed, except one half an hour where the nurses made a bath for me, where I lied in, without being allowed to move at all, too.

After so many injections and infusions, I barely noticed them anymore. Well, my belly was hard as stone due to that thrombosis needles and I couldn't make a fist with my left hand, because there was always an injection in it, with some antibiotic and NaCl, but I got used to it.

It was a weird feeling being healthy again, at home, getting no injections and infusions anymore... learning to stand and walk again at age 17... I lost half a year on school.

Well, but I had barely a choice... The pain in my back was so bad and my lumbar spine was so damaged, that the only choice I had was being in hospital or jumping out of the window... No wait, even that wasn't possible, because I couldn't leave my bed for months.

Wow, Bernd, that's horrible! If you moved so little, how did you avoid bedsores? It's very easy to die from them if you are kept so immobile.

Well, every two days I was turned around very carefully, and then I lied there (naked of course) and the nurses creamed my whole back for some minutes. That was of course the funniest thing ever. I really enjoyed it each time.

Well, one sad thing was that I had a window in my hospital room, but since I couldn't get up, I always only saw the sky. And since it was winter, it was mostly clouded. I spent the whole winter 1991/92 (and even late fall 1991) in hospital, in bed, and the only things I saw where the room, the tv, the sky outside, and people who came into the room. For months, I couldn't see any trees, felt no raindrops, and I only heard the cars outside, but haven't seen any. But the weirdest thing was that I couldn't even reach my feet with my hands, just the knee. Not to mention that I took a bath only one single time within three months, hadn't washed or cut my hair for five months, and such. The first thing I did as being home again was going to the barber to wash and cut my hair again. It was already covering my eyes. And I have usually very short hair. Luckily, I had no beard growth, although I was already 17 years old.

No beard growth at 17??? I've had a beard since virtually the day I turned 16. People always thought I was much older then.

Recently, someone told me I looked younger than my age. Crazy. I've never ever had that happen before. But alas, I do believe my age has caught up with my appearance.

well yes, except maybe above the lips, but that was very, very slow. I guess I didn't shave in that months at all.

I still have not much beard growth, but it has got more in recent years, so I shave twice a week now.

one bad thing that happened yesterday! I drove to Stuttgart, and on the freeway on the oncoming lane there was a very bad accident!! the car burned. It stank so much, that this felt nauseous! I even dreamed about that accident the following night!
Then, an half an hour later a truck suddenly drove into my lane... *shock*
Really, it was the worse ride I ever had!

But... he's funny. For example, he is responsible for the only part of any Disney movie I actually like.

Ok. Never heard of him, but I'll take your word that he's a guy. You're off the hook for now.

But um, do you like him or do you LIKE him?
