I've seen 21 grams the other day. Not the first one, but the other one
![]() It wasn't that good really. Pretty confusing. I mean, it's OK to use flashbacks for a deeper perspective throughout the movie, but when it's used all the time it just gets confusing and less deep. ![]()

I've been watching the movie of my life, from inside my head. I have to say, not all that exciting.

@christina:
21 grams : the chrnology of the movie is mixed up completely yes.. but it is not just flashbacks. the storylines of 3 people, whose life get entangled, are told in 3 timelines. furthermore, In February I went to the Rotterdam Film Festival and watched the 630 minutes (yes 630) long movie Evolution of a Filipino Family by "independent" director Lav Diaz. A grim and dark epos of a family trying to cope with the years of Martial Law under the Marcos clan from 1971 to 1983 (the movie extends to the People's Power Revolution of 1986 and into 1987 when Cory Aquino was president) http://www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com/en/film/30728.html The director told me they will go to teh San Francisco Film Festival as well with the movie (and most likely others). The movie is filmed using video camera's (digital and analog) over the last 11 !!! years (or thereabouts) and the soundediting hasn't really been done yet (the director apologized for that) - he said this was the director's cut ![]() On top of that it is black/white. The movie can be slow at times... but because of this slowness and still frames where people essentially do nothing but shifting on their position it creates an intense atmosphere. anyways, i sorted this interesting since my gf is relative to the belated dissident Ninoy Aquino - the movie contained archive coverage of his assasination on his arrival back in Manila in 1983 from the USA was confronting. It was tough sitting for 630 minutes - i had a sour butt for over 2 days after ! but it was worth the exoperience...

not sure if you mean "suzhou river " or "balzac and the chinese seamstress" so... ![]() Suzhou river- the movie's about a film director who falls in love with a girl who could be the very same one who was kidnapped some years ago and whose kidnapper is looking for her now . it's filmed with camera on shoulder so it's weird at first and also because it starts with the director's character and breaks in the middle for another's character's point of view . balzac and the little chinese seamstress- the story takes place during China's cultural revolution in the 70's , when intellectuels were sent in the moutains with the peasants to be "reeducated". 2 teenage friends are sent there and fall in love with seamstress of the village . they steal a suitcase full of forfidden books and with the girl they begin to read them in secret . and soon after, the seamstress begins to change , reading books of Balzac . ![]()

I saw YES, the new film by Sally Potter and i have to say, that woman is completly brilliant. Joan Allen gives one heck of a performance in this film. Wooooo!!!
And about 21 grams... i just think it sucks big ass time. i really do. It's boring, the actors are all flat and very very repetitive. The screenplay is very bad writen and i'm not saying that because of the flashbacks and mixed storytelling, it was simply writen in a hurry and with no passion. ![]() B.

I did, and i love it... WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I think Kate Winslet is overrated... but that film is awesome from start to finish. And i'm sorry i don't like 21 grams, all of the actors that's on that film are amazing, but that film doesn't make them justice at all. I'm gonna translate a review from an awesome argentinian film critic that i've meet in the festival to show ya i'm not alone in my points of view. ![]() ![]() B.

TTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
![]() The only thing about 21 GRAMS that i like BUT VERY VERY LITTLE, is in fact, Naomi Watts. ESOTSM is a fucking great movie, i like it very much. But i simply think that Kate Winslet is not the most amazing actress in the world. She is very nice in the film, very very nice, but the other actors are too, like Kirsten Dunst or Mark Ruffalo, or the heartbreaking Jim Carrey, but no, i've read like a million reviews about how KATE WINSLET is so fucking great and she steals the whole movie, which is simply not true... ![]() Am i bitter? ![]() B.

argh. i love Eternal Sunshine so so much.
the thing is, jim carrey's "funny" movies i dont care for, but when he takes on a more serious role, i really really love his stuff. i think Eternal Sunshine is just a brilliant, brilliant movie, and it is indeed, one of my most favorite movies of all time. it heavily effected me. x

Million Dollar Baby
Hillary Swank is a great actress and kicks ass in this. The movie is good, but not Eternal Sunshine good =P. If she was more of a "classic beauty" type, she would be the top actress in hollywood. Too bad it's all about slutty clothes and bust-size now-a-days. SWAT Not bad. Like a movie version of "Half Life : Counter Strike".

I preferred the TFC mod and not the Counterstrike mod. It did weird me out a little that some ppl played CS as much as they did. I thought it was a bit lame after a few mins.
The voice mods for these games really show you how idiotic people are too. British people seem to all be using the voice mods, and have a very strong accent ... so when they are talking I can only make out about 1 out of every 3 words, and just because those are typically swear words. Anyway, last two movies I saw have been But I'm A Cheerleader (again) and 50 First Dates. I also saw Mean Girls and a few other films. I haven't been using the computer that much when at home, so I'm just watching movies.

Yeah, that's when I watched it too. After it was over, I flipped over to another HBO channel and watched 50 First Dates.
The movie didn't seem as cool as when I saw it 5 years ago. 50 First Dates was a lot funnier than I expected it to be.

sounds like you & i were doing the same thing on sat. night.
i had the house to myself, and i hate most of my friends, so i wanted to stay at home, vegged on the sofa, and watch movies. 50 First Dates is pretty ok. there was also a lot of shit on that night, too. so i think i topped the night off by watching, ahem, Trading Spaces. x
