I watched Eurotrip yesterday evening - it was a very funny movie, indeed.

Aladdin on DVD.

Good movie, but the "platinum collectors edition" DVD is edited for content! The opening song had the words changed to remove the "cut off your ear" line and the alleged "all good teenagers take off their cloths" sequence is cut entirely.

I saw Star Wars Episode 3 last week. I'm a bit dissappointed, like Episode 1 and 2.

I think there are way too much computer graphics. It's boring.

Actually, I'm in a minority, as I didn't watch "Attack of the Clones" as I heard too many reports of it being completely dominated by CGI, but I did watch "Revenge of the Sith", which I actually enjoyed.

Heartbreakers ft JL Hewitt and Sigourney Weaver.

I've bought the DVD for 10 €. I find it quite a lame film.

Watched the movies version of The Fountainhead last night, which is an adaptation taken from Ayn Rand's book of the same night, and starring Gary Cooper as the idealistic, integrity as solid as rock, architect, Howard Roark, and the Patricia Neal, as the beautiful but nihilistic Dominique Francom.

War of the Worlds Cruise/Spielberg remake

Really good! The most exciting movie I've seen in a while and much better than Star Wars 3. The bad reviews come from Cruise haters and divorced dads who feel guilty after watching it.

What's good about it? It looks like it'd be so dreadfully boring. It's just a disaster movie feauturing a guy trying to save a girl, right? I have a feeling I'd be bored.

I watched the original Star Wars Trilogy yesterday in a theater: Epsidoses 4, 5, and 6: A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

Hadn't seen any of them in a long time.

The first was good campy fun. Bad dialog and acting, but still a great feeling of adventure.

The second is by far the best... It's more polished and goes beyond just being a space opera. It has the best lightsaber duel because of the history and build up of Vader and Skywalker over both movies.

The third is good in most respects except the end. I happen to not mind the Ewoks, for example, though I wish more had gotten killed in battle. But the ending... Luke gives into his fear, anger, and hate, and yet doesnt go to the dark side. It makes so sense. Sure, he doesnt finish his dad off, but the emporer just frying him? The Emporer turns from a brilliant villian to an idiot. He should have kept going down Vaders path... saying that if he didnt become his apprentice, then he'd make Leia his.

The thing is, although Lucas spouts off about how fear, anger, and hate lead to the darkside, he doesnt understand it at all. He never shows how Luke would go to the darkside... there is no hint of it at all. No struggle.

This is the same problem with Episode III. Anakin just switches. There's no reason to do it when he does and it's unbelievable. Both movies fail because Lucas does not understand human nature... he has a great story laid out in all his Star Wars movies (cept ep 2), but he cant execute it. He tries to make movies about succumbing to evil and resisting evil, but he does not know what evil is. To him, it's just a menacing, cruel overlord. He should have stuck to the pure fun of the first movie (which also helps Episode I as well), or gotten a director and writers who could handle a tad more serious stuff like in Ep 5.

But even then, I think it'd still fail, cause Lucas just doenst know human nature.

None of us understand "human nature" per se, otherwise we would know ourselves infinitely more than we do, and none of us do.

In my view the oldest reasons in the book, turn Anakin towards the "dark side" in Episode III: Return of the Sith. He wants to protect his loved one. Generally any of us will "do what it takes" to protect our loves ones, and that's the "chink in the armor" that draws Anakin towards the dark side... plus he's given a taste of power, and once anyone is given a taste of what is possible, but doesn't then understand and wield it properly, all sorts of inevitable consequences occur.

Saw March of the Penuins in a theater today. Can't go wrong with penguins.

@Darren: Yes, I understand the general reasons surrounding it, but when he turned in the movie and said he'd pledge himself, it made no sense. It also didnt make sense in the Senate... there was nothing for the Senators to fear at that moment... they had already largely won. It also didnt seem believable the way he killed the kids. The movie just collapsed in on itself cause Lucas couldnt make the actual transition to the darkside believable.

It's a documentary about the life cycle of Emporer penguins. Male emporer penguins are the old species of animal to live on Antarctica through the winter, and they do it for six weeks in the deep of winter with their eggs on their feet.

If you don't know about their journey, then this movie is a must-see. If you do, well, it's still got some great penguin footage. As a documentary, it as a few problems... it doesnt give a ton of insight and it tries to make the penguins seem too human, but the long, narrationless scene showing a courtship dance between two penguins is worth the price of admission alone. It is truly stunning, tender and beautiful.

The European version has music by the wonderful Emilie Simon, which is great. Sadly, they replaced it for the US release, dunno why.

The music was not that hot for the American version... donno who did it. It was too repetitive... the same theme all the time, like Titanic or something.

Reviews @ RT

I liked the music, kinda overly dramatic, but it helped drown out the 3-year-olds sitting a few seats down who kept trying to yell out contradictions to the narrator everytime a penguin died.

I recorded Original Sin from TV on DVD some month ago. I don't think it is a censored version.

edit:
It's not a censored version. It's a normal version. I recorded in february 2004 from TV.
