Two excellent, brand new covers by Arcade Fire from their recent Edmonton show:

Mr. State Trooper (Bruce Springsteen)
Age Of Consent (New Order)

"Something wicked this way comes" by Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows.

A song in which Anna-Varney outes her depressions and pains by blaming her mother for giving birth to her. But more than the lyrics, the intro is superb. With just a synthesiser and a sample of a distant church-bell they manage to create an atmosphere of pure angst, horror and darkness. Excellent song!

ben has drawn my attention to AATJ. the song recommended by you, tiff, has blown me away at first listening. striking at first encounter/"glance". and then the understanding (ie language) of the lyrics. *shiver*
