Which one by Whigfield? "Sexy eyes" had something catchy, despite her whole discography being commercial rubbish of course... Which was compensated by the looks of the performer

Whatever happened to her by the way? Never heard of her again after the mid-nineties... please tell me she made a nude calender

No song by Whigfield. Bene just talked about the year 1994 and that it was great in music. We found out it was the year of Lucilectric, Rednex, Scooter, and Whigfield.

Wasn't it the year of the Macarena, or am I mistaking by 1 or 2 years? The same year there was a Brazilian indian band who had a song named "Tic tic tac", a Brazilian Amazone folk dance!

Time flies... Those songs seem like yesterday...

Macarena was 1996. The hype was over in Europe, as I made vacation in the States, and as I was there, the hype started there, too...

Well, folks, I talked about the year 1994 in ALTERNATIVE Rock, not some pop-charts-sucker-stuff.

Of course, but most people will remember nothing than the charts in the future

Some songs from Piece by Piece by Katie Melua.

I now realize that I have heard her CD 3 days in a row, at least two or three times a day. The songs that stick most in my head are "Nine Million Bicicles! and "Thank you Stars".

I don't think so... to say it with Bush (not George W(altraud)!!!).
Actually I think it will be the other way around - most people won't remember the chart-songs, but the one that had something to say (for their generation) etc. I even don't know Whigfield and - thank God - I'd already forgotten so-called music like Rednex and Macarena... and I haven't listened to any chart-shows since the mid-nineties. Well, maybe I'm a sort of alien - but I do not hope so!

Btw, the day I was born, ABBA with "Waterloo" was #1 in Germany.

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_de ... in_Deutschland_%281974%29 (June 28, 1974)

Other #1 song in Germany from 1974:
Terry Jacks: Seasons In The Sun
The Rubettes: Sugar Baby Love
Carl Douglas: Kung Fu Fighting

On mine (22th March 1980) it was this one:

Goombay Dance Band: Sun Of Jamaica
Never heard this one, as far as I know.

Oh. Well, maybe I know it from the radio, but I can't connect the title to a song.

They are all pretty good for charts-stuff. Much better than 50 Cent, Rednex, Westlife and all the other modern junk.

Obviously I have to look for that "Sun of Jamaica"-thing. At least it was my birthday's song... Although I have to admit that the title (nor the name of the band) doesn't attract me very much - but no prejudices..

I'm guess in this case the prejudices are right. They sound like their band- and song-name, a bit like Boney M., only slower

Boney M. is one of the favs of my mother... not my style . I guess, you're right then. I think I haven't missed something necessary in not knowing this song.

Stuck in my head is now Heather with "Sugar" - thanks to Bernd!

Candlebox - Butterflies (reprise).
Well, obviously I listened too much Candlebox these days. But better than WHAM - thank God I somehow managed to go through the whole advent without having to listen to "Last Christmas" (not in the radio, supermarket etc.).
