very sad news for those who love rock shows...

"We are sad to announce that the stage designer and architect Mark Fisher, OBE, MVO, RDI, died yesterday in London aged 66.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead with his wife Cristina at his side, after a long and difficult illness, which he suffered with stoicism and courage and his customary good humor.

Mark’s work as a set designer and artistic director has transformed the landscape of rock concerts and large scale events over the last 25 years.

Together with his practice Stufish, Mark created the groundbreaking designs for all the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and U2 tours for two decades as well as scores of other artists all over the world.

As well as his work in live music performance he also created designs for theatre productions and musical theatre including We Will Rock You, and Ka and Viva Elvis for Cirque du Soleil.

He was the senior designer for the Beijing Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies and was one of the three executive producers at the London 2012 Games ceremonies.

His work influenced not only the colleagues and crews with whom he worked but also surprised and delighted the many millions of people who experienced his designs all over the world.

Mark Fisher had just finished designing the various sets for Mylène Farmer's upcoming concerts at Palaise omnisports de Paris Bercy shortly before he passed away. . . and I'm going to see two Bercy shows: September 8th & 10th!!! I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself! But the next concert for me will be Todd Rundgren in Chicago this Wednesday, August 28th. I just wish I could have figured out a way to work in Heather!!! By the time Heather's shows were announced, I already had tickets to Mylène, and I can't afford two European vacations that close together.

Concert tonight. Not sure whether to bring my copy of Glow Stars to get signed. Mishka might not get it or be embarrassed. I'll definitely bring my Mishka CD and maybe pick up another while I'm there.

Have a headache right now, though. :/

Going to see Heather tonight! Er, not that Heather.

http://dcnine.com/calendar/2015/08/31/jesse-marchant/

Will probably stay for the headline act but mostly going for the opener. Looks like she'll probably have a 40-minute set. Eh.

Also, how did this thread die? Would've thought it'd be one of the few to remain active.

I need to go to more shows. I usually only go to see artists in super into but then I forget how good live music is.

Also a bit awkward to go alone when everyone else is on groups. Least I'll be going with friends to half the Heather concerts in going to next year.

I saw bass guitar prodigy Victor Wooten last week and have tickets to see Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) in two weeks. I also just got tickets to see Shakira in Chicago in January 2018, so pretty soon I can check that one off my bucket list.

With my first Tori Amos concert complete, next up is a pair of Mary Lambert concerts in Philly and Boston. I'm super excited. These will be my first two concerts of hers I'll go to since I became a huge fan of hers right after she toured here last and I missed her, alas.

Hope you have a great evening!
Didn't notice Anna is on tour. Would go too, but there is no concert nearby for me. I lost some focus to her somehow.
Good thing is, you can talk to her usually after the concert and you can make pics together with her. She is a very nice and friendly person!

I am still in memories of Heather's tour anyway, try to chill out and enjoy, looking what is coming up still in terms of photos and videos on the web. Still watching videos that i made, listening to recordings. All collected lillis are gone, need to buy some new to smell and trying to keep in the tour mode for me. Would love this tour would have last longer, infinitely. I am so thankful for the tour and the energy Heather gave me with the tour, as always. I had so much luck that I could join at least 12 of 15 concerts.
