I'm finally not going.

My daughter is still a bit too young and I'm a little fed up with VIP thing. The first times I saw Heather live, she used to sign stuff and talk to people for free after the shows, which was much more natural and nice.

Interesting difference of perspective: having never seen Heather in my life I envy others who have seen Heather multiple times and who have hung out with her after shows, talking and having stuff signed for free. But having never seen her (and proudly holding tickets to see her in Evansville, IL this year) I am holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed hoping she'll sell VIP tickets in the US - I'd be on could nine to have the chance to pay for an autograph and a selfie!

FANTASTIC frenchcandle!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I just ordered my VIP pass for Heather's show in Evanston! They didn't have a link to the VIP tickets for the US shows on Heather's website, so I was worried they wouldn't be made available. OMG!!! I'm not only going to see Heather Nova for the first time, I get to meet her before the show!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Thanks again frenchcandle!

(My apologies for taking this off-topic . . . Perhaps the admins can move the last couple of posts on this thread to the Evanston, IL thread)

Actually, Heather posted the link on Facebook yesterday, and on heathernova.com there are now links to the VIP upgrades.

So they are probably soon sold out!

I wrote a news item about it.

Does Heather not sign things for people anymore unless they have the VIP upgrade? When she came to New York, she signed for everyone who desired, spending an hour or two doing so since there were a lot of people who wanted photos or signatures.

I don't know how Heather will handle things in the US, but I would seriously doubt she would be willing to hang out after the show signing autographs, etc. when she is asking people to pay to do so. I paid for a VIP ticket in Evanston, and I'll feel thoroughly ripped off if I find out I paid $50.00 for something that everybody else got for free.

Well, I thought the VIP tickets would be for more than just signing stuff. It sounded like a little chat or something, whereas after the concert you have a few seconds to hand her something, tell her something, and that's it. So I can see the VIP tickets for a get-together before the concert but still have time for autographs afterwards.

I would never begrudge someone getting something signed after the show. Heather hasn't toured here in years - staying for her fans I think would be great if she can do it though her schedule might be a little tight in some places.

I wouldn't "begrudge someone getting something signed after the show," but I would feel cheated if I paid $50.00 for a pre-show meet and greet, and if she was essentially giving away "meet and greets" after the show for free. I guess it all depends on what the paid VIP meet and greet involves. Most of the VIP meet and greets involve little more than getting a tour laminate and then standing in line with 20-30 people to shake the artist's hand, ask for a picture, get an autograph, and have enough time to utter something like: "You're awesome!" The only difference between most of the VIP meet and greets I've purchased and getting an autograph after the show is a tour laminate (and a tour laminate isn't worth $50.00 to me). It would be like paying $$$ for tickets in advance of a show, and then finding out the artist decided to let everybody in for free. I wouldn't "begrudge" those that got in for free, but I'd feel ripped off that I had to pay for something that others didn't have to pay for.

Again, it all depends on what's involved with the meet and greet. I bought a VIP pre-show meet and greet for a Bangles concert once and they put on a 20 minute acoustic show for VIP'ers. After the show they sat at a table and anybody could get autographs and photos for free. The VIP experience in that situation was truly unique and I didn't feel remotely "ripped off." Most of the other VIP meet and greets I've attended were nothing more than typical autographs/photos (usually with a 50 cent tour laminate), and for those shows I would not have "begrudged" those that could have gotten autographs/photos for free, but I would have felt the tour promoters ripped me off by getting money out of me for essentially a tour laminate.

Of course, Heather is apparently serving tea, so there's always that.

I have no clue how many VIP upgrades are sold for each show.

I mean if it's just three, then I would say it is probably worth it. If it's 30, then probably not.

Depends on the number of VIP's and time spent for it.

I honestly have no idea what I'd even do at such a thing. I'm not one to get pictures taken with the artist. All I usually do is get a CD signed and say something about how important her music is to me or something. Or hopefully a signed setlist if I ever managed to snag one of those.

I guess I see this as just supporting Heather's North America tour a little more and anything else is bonus. It'd be nice if it was more clear what the experiece entailed. Some sort of special experience beyond the usual autograph signing and then a regular autograph signing for everyone after the show would be ideal, though it is a long tour.

I agree - that would be ideal! I'm excited to find out what she has planned!

Don't you have questions like what song X is about or why she barely plays song Y or about the lyrics of song Z?

Sure, but it seems like it might be awkward at such an event? Especially given how personal her lyrics are. Depends on how long it is, how many people are there, what the other people are interested in, and what the setting is.

I mean, I once went to a pre-concert Q&A with Howard Shore and asked a question at that, but that was focused on Q&A. If this is mostly people coming up to heather, getting photos, signatures, and saying something personal, well, it won't really be conductive to such questions.

Two days to go !

Enjoy the show !

I made the right choice not to come, it wouldn't have been easy nor convenient. It's still a little early. Next time, it will be easier for my daughter not to have me at home at night.

she is there !

At the same time tonight, "Eagles of Death Metal" will be playing at l'Olympia attended by many survivors of the November jihadist terror attack on the Bataclan concert hall.

Many survivors have already got together thanks to a Facebook Page called "Life for Paris" - designed to help them share experiences over that terrible night.

so a very very special night.

Curious if she will play a new song tonight maybe!

Also I wonder when she will lift the secret with the new video!

So the only songs from the new album she didn't play were On My Radar, Sleeping Dogs, and Womens Hands.

Hope she plays Sleeping Dogs in America.

Also, is Womens Hands the only song she has never played live from the new album?

No change to last years autumn setlist. Well ok, Paris she didn't lay last year. Just hope for some songs not played last year already.

Was Mishka support act in Paris?

She said something like that she was happy to play in Paris again with some emotion in her voice for me.
I think it was because of that, but she didn't talk about the Bataclan.
