Just bought the new cd by Cat Power (Robin Proper Shephard from Sophia recommended it to me) and it's really amazing !
I never heard of her, but I'm becoming a fan I guess. She doesn't seem to tour Europe a lot though !

Today I received the CD "Sun". I like these two songs most of all:
„Cherokee“ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_Mww_XVU1s and „Ruin“ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DwaSTiPkPE Oh, and the intro of the song “Human Being” reminds me a bit of „New Dawn Fades“ from Joy Division ... and there are one or two further songs which remind me of some elements and melodies from Joy Division, but that' s okay, because I like Joy Division. Today I was surprised to read that Giovanni Ribisi, my favourite italian actor, was her boyfriend!
 He seems to have an affinity to the music business. He participated in the video "Crystal Ball" from Keane:http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xdqjg6_keane-crystal-ball_music He was brilliant, as usual ... Well, I must confess that I envy her a bit for this period of her life.

The Brussels gig is in a very small venue, I doubt she will use the big screen and stuff, but she doesn't need that.

Some minutes ago I saw the movie “My Blueberry Nights” and I was surprised about the music – and – the (short) “acting” performance of Cat Power!!
 http://www.blueberrynightsmovie.com/ Film music by Cat Power (the wonderful songs “The Greatest” and “Living Proof”), Norah Jones (who had the main role in this film) and other artists … I hope that she will be touring this year in Germany.

I've seen her a few times live. Hopefully if she tours you will catch her on a good night. She plays better with a band behind her. She will stick to the set list and complete songs. If it is just her on stage, you might get a minute of a song...then some incoherent rambling. Then the beginning of a song. Then some erratic behavior. One of the shows I saw in a small venue had maybe a thousand die hard fans. After 45 minutes of her rambling, most had walked out.
