(Bernd found the first word of this release on eBay, but we need a thread here too.)

This is good news! You can even pre-order this item already as import on amazon.de for just 20.99 Euro... I think I will buy it, too.

I don't mean to sound dumb, but is there any difference at all between the upcoming "US release" and the one we've all had and cherished for over a year? It seems to bolster rumors that she may play some shows in the US at some point in the future, but does anybody know about or otherwise anticipate anything different about the cd? Different mixes? Different liner notes? Anything? Perhaps it may include "Ocean Floor" as a bonus track?!? : )

Probably it's the same as in Europe. Today is the release day! I hope there are people from US here who buy this record and give us information (and maybe send over a few scans).

I might check a record store or two just to see if it's there. I heard from a friend who went to FYE yesterday that it wasn't in the new releases, though.

I found this via Google today, look here:

------------------------------------------------------

"I wanted to make a big rock record, all about atmosphere and texture...sometimes we would wait all morning 'til the batteries were charged and we could turn the amps on again. Then we would play into the night. We tried to get the vocals done before the tree frogs started up after sunset, recording a song a day for 20 days straight. It was pretty intense, but wonderful." -HEATHER NOVA

"300 DAYS AT SEA is a genuinely touching and surprisingly radio-friendly record that suggests the spirit of the ocean has reinvigorated Nova's underrated talents." -ALL MUSIC GUIDE

Before Florence and The Machine, there was Heather Nova, a powerful voice writing intensely beautiful and dramatic songs, dynamically produced, with big hooks and emotional energy. Her soulful vocals, the particular lush combination of atmospheric pop-rock and incisive lyricism and--above all--her natural stage presence, all excite music critics and fans to this day. Though she has found her most enthusiastic audience in Europe, the U.S. release of 300 DAYS AT SEA---in the wake of a renewed presence at radio with the single "Higher Ground,"-bodes well for a Nova revitalization on this side of the Atlantic. 300 DAYS achieved Top 40 chart status all over Europe upon its debut, with rave reviews and more airplay for "Higher Ground" than any previous Nova single. If you're looking for the sweet spot between epic sound, indie individualism, and sophisticated pop songwriting, look no further than Heather Nova, and 300 DAYS AT SEA.

MARKETING POINTS

* The first single, "Higher Ground" is a natural for both commercial and non-commercial Triple-A radio formats, with a Hot AC upside. Triple-A impact date is August 13.

* 300 DAYS marks Heather's reunion with the production team, and musicians, that she recorded her classic "Oyster" and "Siren" albums with in 1994 and 1998, respectively.

* Heather Nova will undertake a radio promo tour of key markets at street date, performing in-studio sessions and interviews.

* Press and internet activity will focus on tastemaker publications, blogs, and websites. The campaign is designed to activate Heather's fan base and re-introduce her and her rich history to general music fans.

* A video of the single "Higher Ground" will be serviced to broadcast, cable, and online outlets. Heather's official You Tube channel is at: http://www.youtube.com/user/heathernova1?feature=results_main

* Heather Nova's first U.S. tour in many years is planned for early 2013. Check with your eOne rep for details.

Awesome news. Looking forward to the tour.

I'm a bit confused, however, by the mention of the radio tour at street date. The album is out this week, but there's no sign of any radio promotions. Odd.

This does keep my enthusiasm for next year in check, but I think this is the first time my personal evaluation of the chances for a US tour have risen above 50%. Maybe 60% right now, as we don't know if they'll be able to put the tour together.

All I gotta say, though, is that Silver Spring has a new rock music venue...

Huh? What is a "Triple-A impact date?" And that was over a month ago . . . I don't get it.

Does "street date" mean September 25th? You'd think her official website would announce any "in-studio sessions," wouldn't you?

YES!!! I just wish this encouraging news wasn't accompanied by the "questionable" quoted passages above it, which seems to diminish its credibility.

AAA = Adult album alternative.

Adult album alternative (also triple-A, AAA, or adult alternative) is a radio format. A spinoff from the album-oriented rock format, its roots trace to the 1960s and 1970s from the earlier freeform and progressive formats.

The format has a broader, more diverse playlist than most other formats and tends to appeal more to adults than to teenagers. Musical selection tends to be on the fringe of mainstream pop and rock as well as many other music genres such as indie rock, alternative rock, alternative country, jazz, folk, world music and blues. The musical selections tend to shy away from hard rock and rap music.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult_album_alternative

Hot AC = Hot adult contemporary

Hot adult contemporary radio stations play a variety of classic hits and contemporary mainstream music aimed at an adult audience. Some Hot AC stations concentrate slightly more on mainstream pop music and alternative rock to target the Generation Y audience, though they exclude the more youth-oriented teen pop, urban and rhythmic dance tracks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_adul ... ry#Hot_adult_contemporary

Generation Y = woman born around 1980-1990 (if I understand this correctly)

Oh, and on August 13 some Higher Ground promos were sent to radio stations. This means "Triple-A impact date": the date when US adult album alternative radio stations are (hopefully) starting to play "Higher Ground".

Generation Y refers to all people born during that time period, not just women. It's supposedly the generation after X. They seem to more often be called Millenials now, though.

Ah, ok.

By the way, my US copy arrived today! It needed just three days for the flight via the ocean!

It seems to be the same as the European release, but without lyrics. And of course, there is the "eone" label on it, and such. So if you already own the European release, you don't *need* the US release, but it's still a nice item and the more copies are sold, the better it is!

The album was not available at the FYE in Union Station in Washington DC, for what it's worth.

I'm not even sure where there's a big music store. I don't think big music stores exist anymore.

This would be a pity. As I was in US on holiday more than 15 years ago, I enjoyed very much the big music stores. Biggest stores I have ever seen. I bought my US Oyster there...

A lot has changed in 15 years. There might still be some big ones in NYC. And there are lots of little ones that specialize in used music, like the ones you PMed me. Maybe some of those have more new music than I realize. I donno.

You might.

Since all the tracks are the same as the European CD, I personnally have no reason to buy a second one.

The inlay is without lyrics and therefore much thinner than the European version. Same artwork, though, and it still contains the list of people who donated, plus the credits page.

So I agree, a person who already has the European version, does not need the US version anymore. It is an item for collectors, especially completists. I bought it because I wanted to show solidarity with the US fans.

I already have two copies of 300 Days At Sea, of course, one with a real signature and one with a fake one. If I saw it for a good price at a store, I might buy it for a friend. I have a couple friends I'd consider buying it for. I still might, but haven't yet.

NYC still has Virgin Music Store, which is a big store. It might have others, but otherwise the biggest one seems to be Fye. I think Fye survives because they sell used and not just concentrate too much on just CDs either.

Koch/Entertainment One have uploaded the Higher Ground video on Youtube:

Is there any other promotion yet?

It's several pages in on YouTube, behind a whole bunch of ambulance videos somehow linked to "Siren" :)

Here it is:

Actually, I was answering Bernd who asked if there was any other promotion for Heather - I searched, but couldn't find anything else.
