I think it' s time to open a thread for Bryan Ferry. I know that there are some fans here ...

Well, today I was horrified to read that Bry was taken to hospital some days ago. An english penpal (she is a fan as well) informed me about it. But he seems to feel better now:

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/n ... fter-mystery-illness.html

I hope that he gets well, soon!! I planned to attend one or two of his concerts this year. Let' s hope that his tour takes place.

Therefore, this evening I have Bry in my mind, very intensively. I had to listen to this song (one of my favourite songs ... although this is just a cover-version ...):

All the best wishes to Bry!!!

My first contact with him, in 1982 :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktMXLB8irwc

It was in Avalon, the last album of Roxy Music, a band
between 1971 and 1983 whose he was member.

And after it was "Slave To Love" etc.

I was very happy to hear him again recently (in One Shot Not).

What a style...

I love the album "Avalon"!!! It' s just "perfect". Oh, unfortunately I haven' t seen "One Shot Not" yet. I will have a look at the thread and see if I can download it.

By the way: I saw Roxy Music last year (again) in an open air concert (Bonn) and the are still great!!!

The Bryan Ferry-gig in Dortmund (today) was fan-tas-tic!!!

It was an open air-concert and the weather was perfect. He was absolutely lovely and his voice was brilliant!!!

This is the setlist (unfortunately not listed in the correct order):

- Like a hurricane
- Tom Thomb' s Blues
- Tara
- Avalon
- Love is the drug
- What goes on
- You can dance
- Alphaville
- Make you feel my love
- Let' s stick together
- Jealous guy
- Oh, yeah!
- I put a spell on you
- Slave to love
- Bittersweet
- All along the watchtower
- Hold on.

I hope that I didn' t forget any song. I really enjoyed the songs "Hold on" and "What goes on", because it was the first time for me to hear these songs live. Especially "Hold on" was really great and even better than the original version (really!).

I' m really happy! Thanks, Bry!

Hi Idefix!

Thanks for your comment.

Well, to be honest, I can' t remember "Reason or Rhyme" and "If there is something" (both two of my favourite songs). "Don't stop the dance" and "My only love" are right. I forgot to mention them. And the concert was only 1 h and 25 minutes (so really short, but it was okay, because he was in a brilliant mood). Therefore I think that the setlist should be too long. Well, but no problem at all. He has a link with all the setlists in his website. So within the next days we will know the exact songs in the correct order. But thanks!

Oh, yes! Me, too. I was there at 05.30 p.m. and when I arrived I could hear (and see through a fence!) how he and his band rehearsed 2 songs. They performed some pieces of these songs again and again and he told them what to do, etc. ... he was very concentrated and agile! He moved to the music very enthusiastic. So I am quite sure that he didn' t only "perform" on stage. He really enjoyed this gig and therefore I am sure that he is so much better.

In August 1972, 40 years ago (!), Roxy Music released their first single "Virginia Plain":

Happy 40th Anniversary, Roxy Music!!

By the way, I think that their first album, "Roxy Music" is one of their best albums.

Bryan Ferry has an incredible voice... if you ever get the chance, try and listen to "As The World Turns" which also features one of my favourite guitar players, Robert Fripp... Ferry's voice on this is delicately controlled... stunning stuff, and it was recorded back in 1977...
