Cassander asked me in another thread about my first CD which is called 'The blooming flower'. Sorry Cass, I've seen this yesterday first.
Here is now for you and of course for the other members the link to my website...Its in German but my songs are in English :) Verena Reif Music is always around me and in my heart. It fills my soul with so much joy and in the year 2009 I began to write my own songs. Wow, this is something I've never expected! More and more songs came out and the songwriting is a miracle to me. There is more, I'm sure. When I write my songs, its like there is something bigger - maybe something we all don't know or things that come nearer or some you are able letting go. Ok, hope you enjoy my music! Give me feedback, that would be nice. Cheerio! Verena

Aren't there sound extracts or Youtube clips ? I guess so, because someone commented on a song, but I don't hear/see anything.

If you click on one of the song titles on this page: http://www.verenareif.de/cd-the-blooming-flower/ Such as the first song, you then go to another page like this one: http://www.verenareif.de/cd-the-bloom ... /01-01_not-far-from-here/ And you have to click on the song title again, and then it plays the song. Unless you have something like NoScript installed on your browser in which case you would need to allow scripts.

Both songs are very good and remind me of the great Penelope Houston.

Well, she is not really a "new artist", as since she is in music business since 35 years already... She was born in 1958 and is still a member of the punk band she founded in 1977! And she once opened for the Sex Pistols!But since the end-1980's, she does also lots of solo stuff, and this solo stuff is completely different to her punk band, it's acoustic-flavored folk-rock, sometimes it's even blues. I can highly recommend to you all her solo albums, but of course, each album has its own style - an album from 2012 is something else than an album from 1988. So in case you don't like one album, maybe you like her next one even more. She sometimes uses even autoharp, mandolin and tamborines. And the best thing: You can legally listen to most of her solo albums for free! Here are the links: http://digital.penelope.net/album/on-market-street (2012) http://digital.penelope.net/album/the-pale-green-girl (2004) http://digital.penelope.net/album/loners-stoners-and-prison-brides (2000) http://digital.penelope.net/album/crazy-baby (1994) http://digital.penelope.net/album/karmal-apple (1994) http://digital.penelope.net/album/silk-purse-from-a-sows-ear (1993) http://digital.penelope.net/album/the-whole-world (1993) http://digital.penelope.net/album/birdboys (1988) Although she is from California, and she is still living there, her biggest market is Germany. I'm not sure why, but she got quite some audience here in the mid-1990's, with being a few times on television, and touring, so she could build up her fan-base especially in Germany. I saw her already two times (Nuremberg 1998, Ingolstadt 2004), and I'm more than happy that with her recent album, she will be in April/May 2012 in Germany again for some concerts. Her current tourdates for Germany.

Nice song, Verena. It reminds me of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The wind swept vastness of the sea and sand. And a little place to call home.

@Sabsi: Thanks!
Nice that you've enjoyed the song. No it's not a religious song. It is more a song about longing - longing for the sea and for nature, freedom, peace. To live simple in an old fisherman's house -- the nature always around me and the sea, of course. Oh that would be a good feeling, I think. And my lover the half time at sea ...Yeah, that's it. ...I've written this song mostly in longing for the sea, you know. Always when I arrive at the beach, for example at the Baltic Sea my feelings overwhelm and it always feels to me like coming home. A friend of mine said once to me, maybe my soul lived at the sea in another earlier life. Goosebumps! There are so much things, we don't know.
