Beautiful Ride,

the best song Heather wrote since YEARS, and it is among the five best songs she wrote in this century so far (if you are interested, the other four are: Storm, Everytime, Singing You Through, and The Sun Will Always Rise). At least according to my opinion.

Beautiful Ride is a very, very nice indie rock song with similarity to great bands like Metric or Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Also I like the message "peace and forgiving" very much.

Interestingly, my knee-jerk reaction was to just go and vote for Beautiful Ride, because I've always looked at it as being one of my top favorites from the album. But then I remembered how pretty Stay was, so I decided to hold off on voting and listen to them back to back, just to make CERTAIN that Beautiful Ride was my choice. While I enjoyed Beautiful Ride as I expected, I was surprised to feel such a strong emotional connection to Stay, and as I was listening to it, tears inexplicably welled up in my eyes. Final answer? Stay. Didn't even have to listen to the rest of it (but I did). : )

Beautiful Ride by far. Enjoy the lyrics, it's a bit anthemic too. Stay's a good enough track too but I'm really shocked it's reached the final two.

Beautiful ride, much better than Stay I think, but not among my two or three favorite.

I've listened to both several times over. Haven't made a decision yet.

I have not either.

It's definitely the final I like less in all the HNN tournaments.

Personnally, my favourite final would have been Everything Changes vs Do Something That Scares You.

But let's get to the point.

beautiful Ride is a kind of mix of everything I like less in Heather's music : radio friendly, easy-listening, it's absolutelyno rock (while we were primised a rock album), but radio-pop I personnally don't like at all. Absolutely no risks taken. If I order all 300 Days songs from muy mafouvtie to my less favourite, Beautiful Ride would Be in the bottome stages.


To my mind, Stay doesn't desreve the victory either. The chorus follow the easy chords pattern I relly tend to despise (it's the easiest one ; if you use it, you can't fail to get a catchy result. Younger, we used it to have fun with friends buy writing songs using theses chords, very stupis songs, but catchy all the same. Now, I forbid myselfs to use them in my songs). But, fortunately, the shords are used "only" in the chorus", the verses are built differently, and the violin quite saves the song. And I must admit it's a pretty end for the album.

So, Stay, and no doubts about it.

ARGH!!!

I like them both....but "peace and forgiving" won me over.

And if I were to introduce a complete stranger to Heather's music and had to choose between the two, I think the average person would respond best to this song.

I, too, like both songs and this was a tough vote. I wouldn't be surprised if there's interest in licensing Beautiful Ride for use in other media; the song would lend itself well to many things. But in the end I voted for Stay because it connects more with my sentimental spot.

And so Beautiful Ride becomes the winner of the 300 Days At Sea Tournament by just barely edging past Stay in the final round.

Yeah! Fantastic result!

Happy enough with the winner. Stay would have been a rather bland choice, works as an album track but definitely not a highlight of the album for me.
