Touch choice. REALLY tough choice. My wife almost convinced me to vote for Everything Changes, as that is her pick, but I've decided to STAY with my initial gut reaction, which is of course, STAY. I would have voted for Higher Ground instead of Stay, but Higher Ground wasn't one of the choices because it was KNOCKED OUT OF THE CONTEST!!! An enormous travesty of justice, but one we all have to deal with. So Stay wins this round for me.

My wife also is a fan of Everything Changes, which I would guess must be her favorite Heather Nova song, lyrically at least.

I really like both songs myself. I think I know which I'll vote for, but I'll wait a little longer to make sure.

It's a pity there aren't more performances of Stay - just the album version and the Copenhagen 2011 version. Of the many performances of Everything Changes, I think the fall 2010 versions with Arnulf are my favorite.

For me the choice is very easy, everything changes !

If I'd done an album rank these two songs would be near the bottom but I voted for 'Stay' simply because I'm enjoying the greater instrumentation on this album. Neither should be in the final though.

My initial responce was "Everything changes" but after relistening to both of them, i vote for "Stay" I prefer that one musically above the emotional "EC".

There is nothing better than a song that touches your emotions. Music and emotions so much fits together and Everything Changes is a perfect example for it. If your are into emotions, Everything Changes is the perfect song! Therefore my clear vote for Everything Changes!

Stay is a song when you are already in love, or you are just dreaming of it.

Everything changes is about understanding life and emotions, therefore much more complicated to understand. Once you understand, you will love it much more than Stay!

And so the pain hurts like it should for all the fans of Everything Changes as Stay manages to hold on and end up in the final round.

Everything changes is really the best song of 300 days at sea. I don't understand this surprising result.

It's a quiet acoustic song on a loud pop-rock album, so it doesn't quite embody the album as a whole. And its message appears to be controversial and is probably a good distance from the mainstream thinking in European and American culture. And, perhaps most importantly, I think it's probably not a natural choice for the people who care far more about the music than the lyrics.

Those of us who like it really like it, but I guess it's just not everyone's cup of tea. This tournament may turn out to be more about finding the one song everyone can live with rather than finding a song that most of us feel is our favorite. Our tastes may be too split for that.

I don't think you can really say that Stay is better musically than Everything Changes.

More easy-listening, yes. Bit not better, especially the choruses. Heather made easy choices. Sh's always using the same chords.

Well, personnally, my 2 favourite songs on this record are reaching 3rd and 4th row.
but the tournament is a mirror of the forum tastes.

Agree on your analysis of Stay : it seems to be nobody's favourite, but everybody seems to at least quite like it (personnally, I quite like ot a bit thanks to the violin).

I didn't say (or didn't mean to say) that Stay is better than Everything Changes musically. I just think that if you are going to not care much at all about the lyrics, I imagine Stay would be more appealing.

To me, music and lyrics go hand-in-hand. The music of Everything Changes works quite well for the lyrics. I think it's a beautiful song. But without that, I think Stay probably has more interest musically, perhaps owing much to the violin, which you mentioned.
