I just had to copy and make some slight alterations...

We had this thread for 2006, so let's revive him for this soon ending year.

Which - new released - albums have you bought in 2007?

New released?

Therefore the new albums from Kristin Hersh, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Tegan and Sara, and Amy MacDonald come immediately into my mind, also a bonus CD from Lisa Germano.

I remember I bought this year...

Queens of the Stone Age - era vulgaris

Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped
Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet (bought weeks ago, but it has not arrived yet)

I hope I haven't forgotten one...

So do you think it was a rather good/bad/average year (for you) concerning the releases?

Devastations - Yes U...Australian band who deserve a bigger audience
Fink - Distance and Time...contender for album of the year

Lou Rhodes - Bloom....no singer makes me cry more.
The Good, The Bad & The Queen...Damon Albarn just gets better and better

disappointing compared to previous albums.

Three weeks left in 2008 and maybe some of us consider to buy still one (like me, I haven't bought the new one by Filter yet) or seven new albums, but just like every year:

Which new releases did you buy in 2008?
Surprises and disappointments?

That's all ?

I buy 1 or 2 new albums a week...

Well, it's the quality that counts, not the quantity.

Well, in spring, I have bought 20 albums and singles on one single day...

Currently, I'm thinking about buying something from
* Juliana Hatfield
* The Dresden Dolls
* more from Liz Phair

Only the new releases? Okay:

Surprises:
"David Bowie - Live at Santa Monica '72"
"Vasco Rossi - Il Mondo che vorrei"
"Étienne Daho - L' Invitation"
"Heather Nova - The Jasmine Flower"
"Alice Cooper - Along came a Spider"
"Grace Jones - Hurricane"

Disappointment:
"Keane - Perfect Symmetry". I really love the first two albums and I listen to them regularly, but I must admit that their new album confuses me a bit. I don' t really like it.

I'm trying to remember all I bought this year:

Candlebox - Into the Sun
Candlebox - Alive in Seattle
Amy MacDonald - This is the Life
Heather Nova - The Jasmine Flower
Portishead - Third
Tocotronic - Kapitulation

As always I've got the feeling I have forgotten some...

Another average year, I guess. Heather's album was a very nice surprise. And as I said already, the new album by Filter ist still on the to-buy-this-year-list...

Yeah? Was it released that early? Or did you get it through "dark channels"?

No dark channels. It was indeed released in 2007 already, even in Germany. I bought a copy in November 2007 in a German "media market" store, and a few days later online the UK version with a bonus track as well. Then I gave away the German copy for a friend. The copy I do own now is the UK version.

Oh, so obviously it should drop out of my "new releases" list.
Well, I bought it in ...eh... September or October this year. Better late than never...

In 2008, I bought:
Viva la vida- Coldplay
Smilers- Aimee Mann
The jasmine flower- Heather
3 albums I like and 3 gigs with -> it was sooo great!

I also bought Jewel's album "Perfectly clear", I find it less disappointing than the last two ones but really not as good as her 3 first albums...
