CocoRosie - Noah's Ark

Looks like Bernd just got it too

I don't think I'd be able to listen to this even a couple years ago, and woulda hated it say 5 years ago. But their sound has really grown on me and now I think I'll have to get their other albums. Thanks for turning me onto them, Julie!

The lyrics don't really do it for me much, but the sound is amazing... lovely melancholic melodies just a bit out of tune combined with all sorts of sounds which some how harmonize in a strange sort of way.

it's a short album, around 35 mins i think. 10 songs, either quiet or psychotic...live recordings from studio, not a typical IAK album but good nonetheless. Comes with bonus dvd which is worth price of admission alone

Didn't think i would like Laura Marling's album so much but i really love it. And Martha...words can't express how good she is. And to top it she covers "see emily play" also.

I paid 3,49 Euro for just 6 songs today on iTunes.

It is the Tina Dico live EP, just she and her guitar! An intensive performance, exactly like I saw her a few weeks before in Mainz/Germany. I recommend to buy if you like Tina Dico. it is better then the Studio performances!
It is from the iTunes Live Festival which happend for 2 weeks in Berlin end of April this year and only available on iTunes like all concerts from this festival.

Katie Melua played at there as well, but this peformance seems disappointing to me. She is not transporting the energy that I know from her concerts I have visited.

Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville (15th anniversary edition)

Buying this album (well OK, the original one from 1993) was on my list since maybe ten years, so Friday I finally did it!

I found the good ol' "Let's Dance" album in a book-shop some weeks ago - on vinyl. Of course I bought it...

The last I bought (on CD) was

Nina Gordon - Tonight and the Rest of my Life

Sure. I do not know why they had a box with second-hand-vinyls in this book-shop and I didn't even notice at the beginning, but they sold Bowie's album for 3 euros...

Unfortuntaley it was the only real good record in the box.

David Bowie is my favourite singer!!

Well, but this is not my favourite album, actually. But there are some nice songs on it ("Let' s dance", "Modern Love", "Criminal World" and "Cat People").
So enjoy it!!

Just for the record: my favourite Bowie song will always remain this one, I think:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H4lgRE4UiA

It's so 'grungy' (the lyrics, of course, not the music style), I always loved it (and it's one of the moments that makes the movie "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" worth looking, since there is a live appearance of Bowie in it, a concert in Berlin).

Oh, yes, that' s a fantastic song! But: It will - unfortunately - be the song of the next Olympic Games (but only a cover-version, not the original! ). I guess that they will play this version so often that after the Olympic Games everybody associates this song with the Olympic Games, and not with David Bowie. Well, but let' s see.

And my favourite song will always be "Station to Station". It' s just perfect (like the whole album "Station to Station"). I love every second of this song!!!!

Oh, no, that's a pity. They will play ot over and over then, I fear. And a very good example that people do not listen to the lyrics of a song...

Yes, you' re right! But I guess that not many people know that David Bowie associated with this song (actually the "lovers" in this song) Tony Vistonti, his producer at that time. He watched him and his "affair" (Tony Visconti was married at that time, if I remember well), standing at the Berlin Wall, kissing. But he wanted to protect him, so he didn' t admit that Tony Visconti was the "lover" in this song. And now (Olympic Games) they just associate the word "hero" with "performances".
