Just felt to open a thread for all who love cats and want to talk about. I know Julie has some cats, my twin brother and brother has. My sister had 2 cats in the past.

I love cats as they are cute, funny and well have their own mind and individual behavior. I am seldom at home so i don't have my own cats.

Starting at the weekend I have to take care about 2 japanese cats for 3 weeks. I have no problem to communicate with them, even so i don't speek Jananese!

Well lets talk about your amazing or funny experiences with cats!

For picture uploads, please send email or PM and I will do for you.

Well, maybe a cat as well. Then we can both roam around together...

Sometimes when you see someone, you can tell that they are really far beyond and above most people in how he or she thinks. Julie is one of those rare people. I have a great respect for her. She has given me a lot of perspective that I have needed and I have a lot to thank her for.

I have two cats. Sarah and The Stynx. The Stynx is quite insane and her favorite activity is to play fetch with little plastic suction cups. She brings them to us when she wants to play. Sarah is crazy too but is also very timid and is sometimes sickly, though she is doing very well now and has gained all of her weight back. We got the Stynx as a companion for Sarah when we're not around, and it has helped a lot in my opinion.

I sometimes had to take care for my former landlord's cat. She realized very, very quickly who the new guy was that brought the food and then started to wait in front of my door at 7.30h am. If she thought I was too slow (I didn't have to get up at 7.30h everyday that time) she started to make noises...
Her name was "Rita"...

When you talk to cats, they can give you a feeling that they have understood you. Even when they were just sleeping and dreaming of mice!

I have a lot of nicknames for Sarah. Sarafina, which then lead to Phineas.

And I have twisted the "I am Spartacus" line around when I talk to Sarah, and like to say "I is Phineas".

I also like to sing "Sarah, Las Vegas" instead of "Viva Las Vegas" to her.

She got stung by a bee on her lip once, which left a scar, which I refer to as her "battle scar".

The Stynx doesn't really get any nicknames or songs, but then with a name like "The Stynx" she doesn't really need any.

In ancient Egypt, cats were worshipped as gods. And they never forgot this fact.

I have two.

I have two cats, called Maunzi and Roxy. Roxy (about 2 years old) is sometimes a bit "naive": My living room table has 3 ranks. Sometimes she lays on the middle rank and looks up to the upper "glass"(!)-rank. When I throw a cat-toy on the glass-table (upper rank), she always tries to catch the toy from the middle rank and thinks that she can reach the toy "through" the glass. She doesn' t understand that she has to jump onto the floor and afterwards to the glass-rank to catch the toy. And this is only one example of this crazy, but lovely cat. My cats sometimes make me roar with laughter ... Cats are just wonderful. They have so many exciting facets. They are cute and lovely, crazy and wild, they are all the world to me. My cats are the most important beings in my life.

The biggest problem on earth is, that there are too many human beings on earth compared to animals! Animals don't have any chance in the future and actually therefore the human beings will die as well!
Luckily I live in a world were lots of animals still exists, like our lovely cats!

@Gerd:
Well, I just love cats and for me they are somehow "holy" beings. And they are so defenceless and depend on us, human beings (in the civilization). I just think that it' s our responsibility to care about them as good as we can.
I have always loved cats since I was a child. So I would say that you can disregard your suspicion. Of course I' ve been dissapointed by one or another person, but the love for my cats doesn' t chance at all in all the different phases of relationships regarding people in my surroundings. So I would say that you don' t have to worry. But thanks for caring about it. You are really attentive and that' s nice.

Oh, though i really doubt that!, itís one of the nicest and most surprising compliments i ever got , Sabina Ė thank you! Maybe i should print out those words, frame them and put them on the wall so I get reminded of them whenever I feel a quite f***ed up person.
And youíre absolutely right: cats are holy, divine beings!

Oh, I you' ll enjoy these three weeks! I hope that you will inform us regularly about the two cats. Do you have any pictures? And how is their character? This race should be active and very curious. So I hope that you are equipped with lots of cat-toys.

By the way, "japanese cats" remind me to a funny japanese cat-video, in which different cats were testet, whether they could lift heavy fishes or not.

It' s very funny. Enjoy:

What about the two japanese cats??

Just wanted to introduce this cat-toy, which incredibly fascinates my cats:

http://www.thecatconnection.com/Da-Bird-Cat-Teaser.html

I bought it a month ago and they are still crazy for it. It' s so sweet how they hunt the "bird". I have contact with other cat-lovers (internet) and they confirm the same effect. It' s really a fantastic toy.

I prefer pigeons.
And I exchanged lingering eye contact with two seagulls today. A sorta lecherous Francis of Asissi, I guess.
Seriously, though, they do stare and it's quite fun seeing how long one can hold on to this, like in a blinking contest. plus I like the idea that the world is full of non-people things one can make friends with anywhere, anytime.
Back on topic, down in London I was wandering drunkenly home early one morning and chanced upon a cat. It stood there and wailed a bit. So I did my best mimic catterwhauling back and this went on for about five minutes.
That was a good day for Cat-Rouss relations.

Oh, I'm sorry, I always forget to take the camera with me. They are still shy and let me know they suffer that I cannot replace their owner. I am doing my best so to be a substitute, but i have only about 45 minutes time for them each day. Well less than one week and the owner is back.

To Rouss:

It was more than "a good day for Cat-Rouss relations."

It was a monumental day for cat human relations. Yes sir! For that was no ordinary cat you communed with on that drunken nite. That cat was part of the vanguard of an interplanetary invasion force sent here to win our confidence and study our defenses before it's space navy attacked in full force leveling Earth with their lethal meow-meow death rays. You somehow unwittingly, speaking in broken kitty catterwhauling, implied that we were on to their schemes and that we had struck up an alliance with their hated enemies, the intergalactic space poodles. You also said something about your knees were made of chocolate, which made absolutely no sense whatsoever to the cat, but he had heard enough.

Crisis averted.
Mankind and the Earth are forever in your debt.
Soldier on little trooper!
