Does anyone happen to have a VIP ticket or two for the Decatur (Atlanta) show that they'd be willing to sell? I waited too long and missed out.

These are both spoken for now. I would have just deleted this thread to clear up some clutter but not sure I can. Looking forward to a great show. I do know of someone else with one table ticket they were selling as of the other day if someone is still looking.

Looking forward to it! Anyone else on the board going to this show?

I know of someone else who has one table ticket for sale. Glad mine are both spoken for from people on this board :)

Cool map! Yeah, that works! The person I talked to said you could reserve it as long as you knew the name of the person whose name the table is in. If I get there first of course I'll go ahead and do it.

He was thinking of upgrading to a table too like you so if he confirms I'm assuming you're good with sharing the table with us?

Yeah, it's hard to tell when they open. The box office is open at noon and when you pull them up on Google Maps it says noon too. That said, I just called and was told the restaurant and patio area open at 5, but the doors to the listening room are at 6:30. She said you could get there around 5-5:15 to pick out the table (I want front and center if possible) and that anyone with the person who reserved the table can pick it out, so if you get there before me it sounds like you could select the table.

I will probably try to get there around 5 but my wife and I don't get a lot of kid free time so not sure what we will do after that and before the show starts yet.

I've heard good things about this place as a good listening room, so I'm really hoping it lives up to it.

So are we set on tickets? I got a message from Feral but didn't know if we confirmed. If so, it sounds like my table is full now :)

BTW, if anyone has an extra VIP ticket or two, or is already going to a VIP event in another city and doesn't mind selling theirs to someone who is only getting to go to one show but waited a few days too long to buy them (me) please let me know!

Hello all, the tables were sold in fours, and since I've not seen Heather Nova since 1998 I snapped one up. If you don't yet have tickets or wants to upgrade, let me know. You'll be joining me and my wife. I plan to get there early so hopefully we will have a great spot.

I'm just asking what I paid which was $58.71 for the pair total (not to be exact). I might be willing to sell just one if you are only looking for one, let me know ($29.35).

Looking forward to a great show and the first one of her first US tour since I believe 1998!

That's a good question actually. Anyone? I don't think you can reserve a specific table at the Atlanta show and I was planning to get there early enough to get a good one, but the early entry noted on the website below may not do any good if it's right before the show and you lose your spot.

The website for VIP says:

"Meet up with Heather backstage before the show for a chat and a cup of tea.
Also includes early entry to the venue and a VIP only laminate designed by Heather."

Hopefully the early entry would get you a better spot depending on when the actual meet and greet is.

Sorry for the delay. I remember seeing this but forgot to reply. I've not been to the venue but always wanted to. It looks like a small, listening room environment and I think it will be awesome. As I recall when I bought the tickets, I think the tables are in front of the stage and the standing room is a little further back. I suspect it's all close, but after not having seen her since 1998 in San Francisco (a scan of my preshow pass was actually used for the cover of the bootleg from that show by the Dutch guy who used to do them - forget his name) I wasn't taking any chances :) Everything I know about the venue I got from the website. Let me know if you want to say hi before the show. We'll likely get there pretty early. Would be great to meet.

Cassander, don't know if you remember me from the old Novaforums website but just saw you said you may be at the Atlanta show. I'm going to that one. In fact my wife and I got a table and will end up needing to sell two tickets. Anyway, let me know if you will be going to that one. Good to see you around here.

All we have is now - The Flaming Lips

As logic stands you couldn't meet a man
Who's from the future
But logic broke as he appeared he spoke
About the Future
"We're not gonna make it" He explained how
the end will come - you and me were never meant
to be part of the future -
All we have is now -
All we've ever had was now
All we have is now
All we'll ever have is now

I noticed that he had a watch and hat
That looked familiar
He was me - from a dimension torn free
Of the future
"We're not gonna make it" He explained how
the end will come - You and me were never meant
to be part of the future -
All we have is now -
All we've ever had was now
All we have is now
All we'll ever have is now -

All we have is now -

Darren, it's funny but I was visiting my sister over the holidays and looking at her husband's CDs and noticed he had a lot of King Crimson and Robert Fripp and thought of you and mentioned to him how you could find a connection with Fripp and the man on the moon :) By the way, he also had a deep respect for Robert Fripp too (and a lot of albums)!

Well for being married -> honeymoon at the Bermudas

That's actually what I did :) I was there at the end of May last year on my honeymoon, and it was wonderful. They apparently actually do have seasons as the person who runs the place we stayed said it can get quite cold in the winter, which a lot of people don't expect. It is fairly densely populated too, but I think it is only 2 miles or so wide at the widest spot and only about 21 miles from end to end. In one week we pretty much went from end to end and many points in between. It's a beautiful island and I would recommend the trip.

It is kind of sad how the tourism has been supplanted by foreign business as a source of income and doesn't seem to trickle down to the average resident, and seems to have driven land prices so high that the average person seemed to get squeezed out. I got the impression there was a lot of corruption in the government now too. At least that's the impression I got from talking to some people. For example, the main department store on the island, Trimminghams, was going out of business after 100+ years while we were there.

The people were extremely friendly, and it's interesting because a lot of them would say how sad they were how unfriendly it had become. I guess I could see that but it was still far more friendly than most places I have ever been. It seems to have gotten more and more expensive too. We stayed at a guesthouse which is about the least expensive way to go (and I would recommend it as it is much more personal than a big hotel) and it still wasn't cheap. We bought groceries and ate almost every meal in because dining was very expensive there.

I would agree with what someone said earlier that it isn't really a place for young people, at least in terms of nightlife, etc. I'm getting too old for that anyway so it didn't really effect me :)

Anyway, if any of you do decide to go and are curious about things there I can try to help you with what I know or remember anyway :) I'd post a few pictures but I've not really figured out how on the new site yet. I even have a few grainy (taken with a digital camera) videos of the plane landing. If you want to see aerial views, try going to maps.google.com and typing in Bermuda and then clicking satellite. It's amazing how much detail they are able to show - and the rooftops really are that white. Anyway, sorry to make this so long

Is there a link to the video somewhere that is up? I keep trying the one from heathernova.com but the link appears to be broken. I assume this "wget" command might help but I don't know enough to get what that means. Is there anywhere else where the video can be viewed, and it's up right now?

The first time I saw the Smashing Pumpkins was in 1991 in Oklahoma City opening for Guns N Roses (my first ever "big" concert). I remember they made what seemed like rude jokes about the state and people there at the show and kept getting booed worse and worse as the show went on. I didn't much care for them from that show. It was loud and noisy and that's all I remember besides the boos. Then, when I finally heard Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie, despite my bias to not like them, all was forgiven. I saw them again in the same venue several years later around the Mellon Collie tour and they actually remembered getting booed and asked if any of us were there then, and said we were really nice to them this time and they appreciated it. It was a great show. I've kind of lost touch with them after Adore, but I've always thought Billy Corgan seemed passionate and try to follow what he's doing when I can. I'd like to hear his solo album as I've yet to hear anything from it or what it sounds like stylistically. Anyway, that's enough for now :)

I seem to have become more cacooned (sp?) in whoever I see locally lately and trying to support for whatever reason. So with that in mind, I have bought a couple CDs by the Avett Brothers (local in North Carolina, and quite good live) and Spottiswoode and His Enemies (saw them locally too though I think they are from NY, the singer is from the UK too I believe). Their latest album is quite nice. Another one who isn't that recently bought but worth a mention is Anais Mitchell (from Vermont I think, and also very good).

I picked This Body on only a cursory listen of the album so far, so that could change. Could just be the song that got my attention at the time. I tend to like the songs that have a little soul more lately. Anyway, as I said elsewhere, it usually takes me a few listens and letting things sink in before I can really decide these sorts of things, but this question was on first impressions right?

Like some others I have a hard time saying too much too soon. I've only listened once so far, and not even with full attention as I have been reading (and waiting for pages to load - still haven't installed Firefox darn it) here at the same time. First impression is fine though. With almost all her albums I seem to always find they grow on me. Even ones that don't at least grab me at first ultimately do. This one seems sort of like Storm on first listen but with a little more instrumentation. I think it will have enough depth to grow on me on first listen, but I've yet to even read the lyrics either. This is sort of off topic of this album, but for whatever reason Siren is kind of the album that really roped me in (also happens to be the album where I saw her live, and a "period" record where I remember listening a lot that summer and where I was, maybe that was part of it too, who knows). I really like Oyster too but maybe because it was the first I heard and heard a lot, I tend to like Glow Stars even more. I have a feeling this one will be after those three (Siren, Glow Stars and Oyster), but not sure yet. As someone else said too, even if it doesn't turn out to be my favorite album from her, I'm sure it will still be an album I come back to in my overall album collection. Just glad to have some new songs to listen to also and hear how she evolves and changes over time.

Very cool! That was a lot of questions and a lot of good answers. I'm a little late to the party and just realized today the album was out to at least listen to online and available to be shipped across the ocean now. I guess a little cluelessness can lead to pleasant surprises sometimes. I'm giving it my first listen now, and thought what better way to check it out than coming here and looking around at the same time. Anyway, it's nice seeing a lot of good discussion here on the new album and so on. I like what I've read and heard so far pretty well. Usually takes me a few listens to really get a feel for something though, but so far so good.

Thanks everybody. And Michael, itís a little town in the middle of the state about 30 minutes north of Waterville (if you donít know Maine well, itís about 90 minutes north of Portland off of I-95).

I should have mentioned too that the honeymoon is to be in Bermuda, so I will definitely try to get some pictures from that on here when I can.

Hopefully this will be a good institution for me. So much time goes into planning it that it better be, haha.

I think this whole novaforums operation has been a couple year long attempt to persuade people to switch to Firefox Just kidding, but for some reason this board is incredibly slow on IE. It usually says it is loading 100+ items. I understand that Firefox must be a lot faster, but it seems there would be some way to make it work with IE better, since most other pages aren't nearly as slow to load. Then again, if however it is set up now works better for those who run the site I can't blame you. Anyway, I'll have to try this Firefox thing out soon. It's funny to think that a kid was/is responsible for a decent amount of Firefox (at least he used to be a kid when he started I think).

I got to see them for the first time last year at a pretty small venue. It was pretty cool. They played the entire Seas of Cheese album as part of the show on this tour. I've always liked their sound even though I've never heard anything older than Seas of Cheese, and I hear it's quite good.

Sorry to have confused you with Pieter, Yee :) I can't keep up with all these name changes.

99 pounds is still $160 or so. You can fly for that in the US too on Southwest, even some others if you catch it right. I think they probably have a similar model to Southwest, at least in terms of having a low cost structure and probably smaller planes so less fixed costs. Plus flying from one country to another is like flying one state to another in the US, so you have to remember that. My one overseas trip, to London, I remember flying from the UK to Amsterdam (maybe even on Ryan Air, I remember it was cheap) and it took just an hour, the difference in the time change. I was amazed, but when you think of it this is just like flying within some US states.

1984. I don't read a lot but I read this book last year and really liked it. Since I don't read much (and don't watch all that many movies either), I rarely read a book and then watch a movie. This is a case where I'd say the movie was good, but the book was more complete and better. While I am usually too lazy and just watch the movie, I guess now I see why my friends who read a lot always say that about movies. Anyway, it was still a good movie but without the details contained in the book.

By the way Bruno, were you able to find a Califone album to listen to (the group I kept forgetting the name of)? If so I'm curious what you thought.
