Hi,

I have 2 tickets for sale for the Heather Nova gig in Cologne. After I purchsed them Hasselt was added which is only 15 km away from me instead of the 2 hours drive to Cologne.

Normal price. I can send them by prior mail due to the short time.

Have fun anyway!

Steven

I don't think they were drunk. I saw them in the bar. I think it was more likely that they had a free evening from their closed instute
And in Genk it was someone wearing a kilt. I mean.... Belgium and kilts??

I noticed a bad habit: asking your girlfriend to get marry on stage during a Heather Nova concert... Was the second time yesterday in Eindhoven, happened also last year in Genk.
People, don't do that ever again!! And no, it's not romantic, on the contrary. Everyone who was there yesterday will understand what I mean...

Anyway, great concert, much, much, much better than Hasselt.

Ok, about the laughing during Gloomy Sunday...
She did a sign to her sound engineer that there was something wrong with her ear system. So during the song, the man came on stage, kneeled behind her and started to work on the receiver. Which looked realy silly: Heather with her guitar singing and a man behind her doing all kind of things. So she started laughing then continued to sing but had to stop again because she had to laugh again.
Was funny. And I guess the worst venue I've been.
About the concert itself? Mmmmm Must have been the worst performance of her I've seen (about 16 concerts). Not concentrated, her voice 'skipping' a few times... I don't know. Glad I was in Brussels too, so Genk was one to forget fast
I'll post my pictures tomorrow.

DAMN DUTCH AUDIENCE!!!
I come very often to the Effenaar, because they have a great program. But I wonder hwo many of the people in the place actually know who is performing on stage...
To me it feels like they go to pub where by accident there is a live band playing... Or like Gabriël Rios said in the Effenaar: 'there is the Dutch humming again...'

But it was a nice performance, not great. I missed a bit the energy of the AB gig. But of course glad I was there

I was just listening to the recording of the Berlin gig (thanks to the one who ripped...) and during Heart and Shoulder there it was again: the little giggle/laugh at the end of the high note. Bet you all know what I mean
At the AB gig there was that little also and I have heard it before.
So here the question: Is there a little laugh at every gig??

Was my first concert this summer and it was great! Always surprised of what Berit does with her guitar. And each time I am waiting during Sugar, when Berit is torturing her guitar, for Heather to take over that Les Paul and go crazy!! I always wonder if Heather at the rehearsels ever plays a damn mean guitar
Anyway, I noticed again that the Dutch audience is very different than the Belgian once: I was waiting during some songs that someone at the bar would yell: 'Hey you on the stage!!! Can you shut down a bit!!! You're playing too loud!!!!'
So I guess the AB is still my favorit place for an Heather Nova concert.

Oh yeah Gerd, did they manage to sell all the pictures? Was a good idea as a support!

Maybe a question for Gerd.
Who would be the righgt person to contact to get an accreditation/photo pass to shoot pictures during a concert?
Does someone has contacts of the tour manager or management office?

Help would be gratefull!

Thnx

And damn, I guess I was surrounded by almost the complete Belgian part of this forum. lol

Well, about the people standing up... I guess it's because we in Belgium are a bit more 'reserved' about that... Let me explain.
Just in front of me there was a couple, he was from Holland, she was from Spain. She was very enthousiastic during the complete gig, but seated.
When Heather told at the beginning of a song at the end 'to stand up', she jumped up immediately and started dancing. She then tried to pull up her boyfriend, who refused :)
At first you saw the people staring at her like 'What the hell??' but then people started to look around to see if there where other people standing up. And one by one people started to stand up and move, but first looking around to see if they don't make a fool of themself.
I guess we are here in Belgium more like 'But if I standup now, the person behind me can't see a thing' and 'Won't I make a fool of myself?'

Silly, I know :)

And don't forget to mention that Heather looked great! I guess it must have been the first time I saw hert wearing denim and sneakers. She just looked so young. Anyone who can post some pictures?
And also don't forget to mention that Berit was excellent again. During Sugar I saw at the end that Heather pushed Beri get more in front of hte stage during her pretty nice and dirty solo.

Yes, this was one of the better gigs :)

This year I've seen the Pukkelpop gig (which I tried to forget asap, because of the bad technical quality), the Brussels gig and yesterday Antwerp. I liked them a lot, not only the fact that they played a bit 'louder', but the complete show: the musicians, the songs, the lights, video projections.

Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Heather Nova (38) gave birth to Sebastian and made a beautiful record: Redbird. Who didn't had the guts to go out to see her at the
Pukkelpop festival, has 2 rematches: she plays on the 1the Octobre in the AB at Brussel (sold out) and on the 24th October she comes to Antwerp.
Heather Nova grew up in Bermuda and she lives there again. ''I love the area were I am born'', she tells. ''Even when I lived in London or when I
was on the road with the band, I always anted to return to Bermuda. It was like if I wanted to return to my childhood. That's always good for the
creativity. When I just became mother and when I was writing songs for the new album, it was the season of the bright red birds. Very nice to look at.
And it was also the season of the 'granate apples' (??), which are bright red too when you cut them. I wanted absolutely make a song with that red
image in it, the color of passion.''

- That became the main track of "redbird". Is there also something like the 'black' song on the record?
'Miss My Sky' maybe became the darkest song. It's about someone who lives on a island and who doesn't know what to do next. I tried very hard
to imagine that situation. It must have been real hard.

- You studied arts. Do imagine yourself landscapes once in a while while you write songs?
Yes indeed. With this c.d. for example you can imagine yourself huge open sky above the sea. It was also because of the art classes that I discovered that
music was really my thing: every time that I saw images, I imagined the soundtrack with it.

- Do you remember the moment when you thought: 'It's not with painting, but with singing that I want to make my money?'
I always knew that I had a voice to sing. When I was about 22 years old, I stopped with my colleges and I decided that it was time for me to find myself a
job. My feelings pushed me into the direction of music.

- You always are in charge of your record covers. You are displayed very often on them. Are we wrong when we state that you are a bit a narcist?
(laughs) Maybe you better have to search in the direction of attention and confirmation. That doesn't mean that you like yourself a lot. Records with
heads on them are also timeless in pop history. Your face becomes characteristic for your music. Look at Jimi Hendrix. It's a tradition, although I wanted
to use for my latest record a self-made painting. Finally that idea didn't work out.

- in 'Motherland' you sing for your son ''I'll be your rock''. Did the motherhood change you?
I am more conscious about life. I pay for example more attention at the traffic when I cross a road. My husband and Sebastian also come with me on
this tour. I think that is the only possibility to continue my career. Recording the c.d. as as full-time mother was one of the most difficult and most stressing
thing I did my entire life. I have hardly arguments with my husband, but in the recording studio we could have real bad fights. Although I am very lucky
to have a man who proposed by himself to join me on he tour to look after the baby.

Just being curious, but what do you use to record the gigs?
Because quality is real good, compared with other stuff I've heard of other bands.

It was a perfect concert indeed! I finished right on time, in fact.

Some things that 'surprised' me:
- Heather walk aroud with mic when she wasn't playing guitar.
Never saw her that much moving during a gig.
- Felix with Sebastian on his arms at the side of hte stage. Sebastian wearing a headphone and Felix whiping constantly his noose :)
- No Sugar indeed
- Great sounding double bass
- Synth guy who plays a great acoustic guitar as well
- Why was there a trombone on stage???

And finally... damn... would love to see Heather hit the Les Paul for once!! I am pretty surez that she can play some mean and dirty solos too :)

But yes... it was one of the better gigs I've seen of her.

And the first I saw while arriving there were you... guess it must have been your height :)

I gonna post my pics of Nick Cave too, in fact, I'll let you know about the URL

Hi everyone,

just woke up after 2 exhausting days at Pukkelpop. Saaw some real nice things, and yes, it wasn't heaters best performance ever, but hey... was great to see her again.

I made loads of pics, I'll fix them up today and I'll post them here. Hopefully I'll manage to get it done today, becuase there are loads of them.

Oh yeah... I'll post some pictures of the merchandise: the Tour t-shirt and the Heather Nova lace top my wife bought :)

Have fun,
