On Friday night there was an interesting documentary report about Kate Bush on ARTE.
I guess she really inspired and encouraged so many female singer/songwriters, she was absolutely one of the female pioneers in the male-dominated music business.

And I didnít know about, but I love this Wuthering Bush Day on her birthday, where women, men and kids dance to Wuthering Heights all over the world Ė so great and touching seeing this!

They also interviewed Youth in this broadcast, as Killing Joke also worked with her.

https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/082765-0 ... gewaltig-und-exzentrisch/ or https://www.arte.tv/fr/videos/082765-0 ... -bush-la-sorciere-du-son/
(Was looking for a link in English without dubbing as well, but couldnít find it. Guess, there isn't any. )

Thanks for the chords, Gerd! Ah, it was Asus2 in the break of "The wounds we bled".
Have just checked them roughly yet, but anyway, Estelle did great work!

Estelle, is it only in this HR1 live unplugged version, that Heather playes in:
"The wounds we bled" F instead of Fmaj7 in the second line of the verse and F as well in the chorus instead of Fmaj7 and Em (I think) instead of Am in the break?
And in "Your words" Bm A Bm A instead of B F#m B F#m during "And itís all only syllables"?
Itís just that Iíve realized the difference when watching the video. Do the acoustic and the album versions differ?

"Lots of live sessions"

I know HR1 (live session + interview), ARD Moma (one live song + interview), and Brisant (short interview). But no info yet what she did for SWR3 and WDR4. We should check both programs in the next weeks!

Bernd, scroll down here https://www1.wdr.de/radio/wdr4/program ... ungen/songpoeten-100.html and youíll see, that The wounds we bled was played in the broadcast "WDR 4 Ė Songpoeten" on the 20th of August. No idea, if there was an interview as well or so. I havenít checked any further.

Interesting and new to me, that she saw Tori live back in her very early days.
And it was nice and new as well to me to hear All the rivers in this stripped down version, though the song shines better in the album version, imho. Not fond of this cover song, but i guess Heather made the best out of it.

Do you feel it for all of the album, or do you like some songs more than the others ?

Regarding me, almost the whole album, apart from a few songs.

My least favourite albums used to be Redbird and South, but there are definitely much more songs on them, which I like, than on Pearl.
E.g., Iíve listened to South several times lately (I almost only listen in summer to it, as itís an album which gets me in a kind of easy-going summer mood with most of the songs) and found that I like it a lot and still wonder, why Heather hardly ever plays songs from it, apart from Like lovers do and Talk to me some years ago. She always says, there were too many producers, but she could now play them in a new "dress", the way she likes them to be played.
I donít think Iíll like the Pearl songs better live in autumn. Iíve heard some of them acoustic and then in the album version and that hasnít changed my mind about them.
But I donít know exactly, what it is that makes me feel, that something somehow lacks for me, when I hear Pearl. Itís something I canít put my finger on. Perhaps it adds, that Heather said, the songs were the best she had ever written and set the bar very high with that.

Mothertongue and Shaking the doll as Glowstars songs would fit very well for a rock tour, but the latter is unfortunately very unlikely. (Unless she has now somehow overcome the reason why she refused playing it through the last years.) Even the song Glowstars itself could rock (at least a rocking break).
And I miss my sky would be great anyway.

I wonder if this will be mainly the setlist (including the cover song) for the autumn tour as well. Hopefully not...
Not that I expect a lot of TJF songs on a full band tour, but no songs from two of my favourite albums is disappointing. And there are definitely tracks from Redbird, which would fit very well for this tour, e.g. Overturned. Not one of my dearest songs, but it's good and hardly ever played. Or Redbird itself.
Would be nice to hear Ruby Red again, too, not to mention some Glowstars songs...

Really? Itís one of my favourite verses of a Heather song!

Actually, I love the whole album. Hard to put the songs in order.

But Everytime is so simple and pure and genius for that (well, there are such songs, also e.g. Tracy Chapmanís Baby can I hold you). So, one of my all-time favourites by her, for sure.
Storm as well. I love the mood it evokes in me. And I can say the same for Aquamarine (although itís a different Ė easygoing Ė mood).
Fool for you (which has unfortunately been played almost too often on tour) is still touching for me as well.
I wanna be your light was my favourite when the album came out, but like FFY played too often live through the last years for my taste, but it is still a great song to me.
And I also like Letís not talk about love very much.
The remaining songs are quite equal for me, I like them only a touch less than the others, but Iím also fond of them.

Thatís the reason why I donít understand that you often say you agree to my postings, because we definitely differ in opinion. You like each and every song by Heather and I donít.

E.g., I get the message of The wounds we bled and what she wants to say with this song (and I agree with her), but nonetheless itís just an average song to me. And even if Iíd understand Donít worry what the experts say (which I actually donít really do), I wouldnít like it better.

I miss my sky (outstanding! And I love the violin in it; this song crys out for strings, imo.)

Mesmerized, Singing you through

Done drifting (average, especially the lyrics, but I love the absolutely beautiful violin-piano-guitar version)
Motherland, Redbird, Welcome (mainstream song, but a good one), The sun will always rise
Overturned
This body (I like the theme of it, music is average)
A way to live, Wicked game (I liked Chris Isaakís version a lot when it was released, but got tired of it and Heatherís cover is pretty close to the original)

Donít understand either, why When the music stops was taken off. I really like it a lot; much, much better than most of the songs on Redbird.

Serengeti, This Humanness, Iím air
Seaglass, The Archaeologist
Sea Change, Treehouse (I especially like the instrumental end part of it), Moon River Days
Sleeping dogs
Earth is my heaven
On my radar
Girl on the mountain
(I like the demo version best, but totally dislike the album version)
Lie down in the bed youíve made

Donít know where to put Womenís hands, as I love the lyrics, but find the music only average. So perhaps somewhere around Sleeping dogs and Earth is my heaven, I guess. Somehow I'd prefer it as a poem.

No strict order again. Just listed from songs I really love +++++ until quite okay + (itís not that I totally dislike them):

+++++ Beautiful ride, Everything changes, The good ship moon, Stay

++++ Turn the compass round, Do something that scares you (especially for the good lyrics)

+++ Until the race is run (I didnít like it first, thinking it was very mainstream, also regarding the lyrics. But when watching the Olympic games in London 2012, I thought what a great Olympia song, even a kind of Olympic anthem, it would be and since then, I like it in that sense a lot), Burning to love

++ Iíd rather be (I like the verses a lot, especially the drums in it; but I find the chorus quite trivial regarding melody and lyrics)

+ SALPOT (I liked it in the beginning better, but got tired of it), Higher ground, Stop the fire, Precious things

One of my favourite albums by Heather:

Ride, Beautiful storm, Out in New Mexico
(3 of my absolutely favourite songs by her)

If I should die (it has so much grown on me since the first listen and become a special song for me, really underestimated in my opinion and unfortunately never played live afaik), Follow me in grace

Looking for the light, Say something

Maybe tomorrow
and Out on a limb (I like the lyrics more than the music on both)

Hollow

Every soldier is a motherís son

I didnít list Always Christmas, as to me, it doesnít fit on the album at all (even Heather said, she wasnít happy that it was put on it!). I always stop after Follow me in grace. But I really like listening to this song during Christmas time.

This is no strict order, just a bias:

After all this time
(As said before, I donít know why, but I liked it right from the first listen)
Rewild me and Over the fields (I like both, but I had much higher expectations regarding the lyrics)

Just kids
(Itís a mainstream song, but a good one and I like the e-guitar in it), Your words
Vincent (Funnily, it made me think of a mix of Moon River days, Say something and Paper cup, when I heard it for the first time), See yourself (To me, itís like Pearlís Womenís hands), All the rivers (Itís okay, but I somehow donít like her voice in it, especially in this "I want time..."-part)

Some things just come undone
(I was expecting more regarding lyrics and music as well; too many "Some things..." and "I took my...boy..." for my taste and the nerving voice at the end, sorry...)

The wounds we bled
and Donít worry what the experts say (My least favourite songs, which I knew from the first listen; it wonít change, Iím sure. Iíd definitely rather have Rose gold on it instead.)

My first impression about the songs hasnít changed yet, apart from Your words. I wasnít fond of it when hearing it last year and itíd have probably stayed that way. But when I recently wrote a kind of report about my point of view and my emotional state to some people, I got the feedback by one person, saying, he was deeply touched by my words. This was such a gift for me. And since then, I like this song much better, because I can somehow relate to it on a personal level.

To me, music is quite an emotional thing. Iím not a music expert at all and donít analyze songs too much by giving attention to structures or so. If a song touches me on any level and moves me in any way for what reason ever or not, that decides if I like it or not. Sometimes I canít even explain why.
But I understand that others (especially music-wise people) see it in another way and have a different approach to it.

To me, the whole album remains quite disappointing.
It is not bad and if this was her debut album, Iíd be more than satisfied. But after Glowstars and Oyster, I set the bar much higher.
I value her for her total openness she has usually in her songs, especially on those albums named before. I mean, she has lyrics like Island, Sugar, Blue Black, Walking higher, Iím Alive, Ride, Out in New Mexico,... where there is such a depth and total revelation. I miss that on Pearl. The lyrics stay quite vaguely and the music doesnít catch me on most songs either. My favourite is still After all this time, which has touched me the first time I heard it, for what reason ever.

Her wonderful, unique voice, which I usually love, gets even somehow nerving to me at the end of Some things just come undone and in All the rivers. I donít know, if itís because she wants to rock by all means, when her voice is not really made for it, imho. Thatís not a failure or a flaw, itís simply not that, what makes her so outstanding and special. But as said, just my opinion.
To me, there are much more songs I like on Redbird and South (I guess, my least favourite albums) with deeper, more touching lyrics.

Heather said, the songs on Pearl were the ones written quite recently. Somehow I wonder, how the songs sound, which she wrote shortly after her split-up some years ago.

And "Vincent, yours is the first name Iíve ever sung." UmmÖ.no.

But I know, as often I am pretty much alone with my opinion; so good for those of you, who are fond of Pearl.
