Heather played my long desired request of To Sea for the first time and it was incredible!

She also played another non-album song that she never plays, Together as one.

In addition to another cover from the upcoming album, Heather also played a song each from Oyster, Storm (new arrangement of a classic), Redbird, Jasmine Flower, and 300 Days At Sea. The Redbird and Jasmine Flower song are my favorite from each album!

Just wanted to say I'm thinking of everyone affected by the floods and the terrible loss of life and communities.

The unheard demo from 1990 plus the at home concert made out worth it to me, fwiw. I think you can get the concerts at the lower level, though?

She played Grow Young and Like a Hurricane and it looks like she'll play Nothing on the next one. Not sure if Not Only Human counts as rare.

I don't remember reading anything about that so I guess we'll find out!

I will note for online concerts during the pandemic, some artists charged a certain amount but let people who couldn't afford it get in if they asked and asked some people who could afford it to pay more, others had a system where you could pay for someone else to get in, like a stranger. But that was, of course, in the middle of the pandemic and early on too and that's not patreon, but figured I'd share that as there was mention of that.

It's also okay not to like Patreon. I just was pointing out what I've seen on other Patreons I'm on, which admittedly are lower priced and run by less famous people, mostly visual artists. I actually find the interface a little difficult to follow and don't like always having to log in for whatever reason. And it's not the best interface for browsing through the archive.

But it was really nice to hear an unreleased old song and a little home concert. Looks like she's going to try another Siren B-side next month that I am not sure I've ever heard her play even on a concert recording!

There's actually an unreleased concert that this might be a good place to release it, back from the Intimate Evening tour with Fiona Pears and Ian Tilley. The arrangements from that tour weree unique. I think it was also the first ever Sugar acoustic?

For what it's worth, I know artists who've created patreons and found them to be safe spaces where they can share and communicate in ways that they weren't comfortable doing so on other platforms. I think a patreon where only your fans see stuff and where you have full control is just very different from even an "official" message board that's still mostly focused on fans. Some even have made Patreon-locked Discord servers/channels which I've found pretty nice and good for communication.

I liked this message board as a place where we talked to each other as fans and I think that's different and unique in its own regard. Both spaces existing seems healthy.

All my other patreons have been visual artists and one writer, though I'm aware of Amanda Palmer's success with the platform.

I don't think Patreon is owned by any conglomerate yet? They've been around for a number of years now!

Yes, I'm aware that firefox won't do video or screenshare on discord, but I absolutely never do video so that only comes up with screensharing videos or games like jackbox. But like I said, I use Discord all the time.

Usually this forum is pretty quiet so I don't check it every day so I didn't know about the gathering. Usually i used discord for chat though and some voice chat parties. If y'all were looking to do video chat that's cool but I won't be participating. Discord only added video chat earlier this year and it was pretty disappointing cause it has been a nice refuge from it but thankfully a lot of existing discord servers have a strong chat or vc culture.

Listening to To Sea and Over The Fields back-to-back is a pretty interesting experience. Two songs written thirty years apart. No idea if any of the parallels were intentional or not but it's interesting.
