Omg...I hate this song....I was in a hotel in Beijing, and the breakfast "room" was first floor above the lobby....everything open, and there was a TV running in the lobby, with this and two other commercials in a nonstop-repeating-video....so I had to "listen" to this commercial every 2 or 3 minutes....since then...

If God really created us as an image of "him"self, and if you define this not just as "outer appearance", but also include things like greed, jealousy, anger and lots of other negative things, it´s not a miracle that from time to time things happen without understandable explanation.

He/ She/ It also seems to be pretty vain, as he (?)(ok, as "he" probably first created Adam as an image of "him"self, and to make it easier to read, I´ll continue saying "he" )wants to be worshipped. He expects us not to have other gods beside him, so maybe he´s scared of something, or it´s just his vanity, who knows

There are a lot of things I don´t understand, but if you just take the Christian Belief, there´s no way trying to explain anything (like deathly accidents, sickness, epidemics or whatever), as it´s no difference when you die, because if you do, you only change your state from physical to spiritual, if I may say so.

If you´re suffering from losing a friend or a family member, and you really believe in God, you of course have the right to mourn, but you´ll find comfort in your belief, as you trust God that he knows what he´s doing.
That is believing, and not knowing, or understanding...

All in all discussions like this make me feel confused , because I also haven´t found a final interpretation of God or belief...I do (of course )not know if there´s a life after death, and I´m not sure if I believe in this, but I hope there is one...

So, in the end, I just want to say a few things about what I read here, not judging, only writing down a few thoughts...

This martyrdom:
there´s no logical reason for this, as it´s pretty ineffective , but considering the religious thing: you show God you love him more than your own life, and what could be a better sign for worshipping than laying your life in his hands and trusting that dying is worth it ?
I´m not sure if God shouldn´t be critized for expecting this, but at least it´s flattering his vanity
Bernd: (referring to the "lying that saves life"): maybe God takes this as a sign someone loves his earthly life more than he trusts in paradise ?
And hey, he´s God, he makes the rules, I won´t go and visit him to tell him he could be a bit less demanding

Why does God "allow" things like pain and catastrophies?
He still seems to be a bit angry about the Adam and Eve story, this unlucky decision to eat the apple....that´s why he allows all these things we don´t understand...we only want to see the good God, the one we can love easily, because he makes dreams come true and gives us everything we like to have, need or expect...but he´s still disappointed by Eve´s behaviour, and maybe this is why he lets the women give birth to children, invented beauty culture, creams and this stuff , shaving armpits or whatever
So, maybe that´s why he does allow this ? too unforgiving, this guy...

religion, (dis-)belief, japanese
Maybe he´s only playing with us ? He from time to time shows up somewhere, or gives signs, talks to prophets and then waits what happens ?
What if all the different religions refer to the same God, and just call it different, or tell different stories about his behaviour, because he probably was in different moods when he appeared ?
Considering Christian Belief you could again excuse this with the old banishment from paradise...he sits back in his chair, maybe smokes a cigar and has a glass of the best wine (made by Jesus ) in his hand, relaxes and thinks about how we treat each other...if "we" let others know about "him", if we share, what "we" (or let me say: those who believe in a Christian God) believe, if this is kept "secret" or if anyone dedicates his life to "saving others"...once again: simple explanation, if you only consider this from a "believing" point of view...as soon as you try to find a "logical" explanation, you´ll fail...obviously he wants us to believe in him, and not know about him...if we knew, what would happen ?

Wow...now I´m even more confused than I was before
I hope this did not become to incomprehensive....
There are probably some thoughts that are not finished, but I think it´s better to send this now...

Yes, correct answer!

Solution for all: when you google after "2GyP2IGp30w", you will find a youtube link with one shadow. An other cardinality to "one" is "numberless". Therefore "numberless shadows"!

I wasn´t sure about this "cardinality"...found out it has something to do with mathematics, but I honestly did not know how to find a connection....so I first thought it was referring to the 2 "persons" who somehow belong together as person and shadow....and when you gave the hint about "s", it had to be shadow...and the only line I could connect to the mathematic thing was the one I mentioned...everything else would have been simply guessing...although even this somehow was more guessing than knowing

With IE 7 it sometimes takes a few seconds (3-5 I guess) opening a window (Connection 6016 kbit/s), works better with FF.

But beside speed I don´t see any "problem"...and even this still is ok.

Hm....I´ll "ignore" Jean-Michel Jarre with his concerts , but beside him, I´m kind of happy having seen Pink Floyd´s "The Wall" 1990 in Berlin and the "Vaya con Tioz" in 2005 at the Lausitzring, Germany....I somehow regret not having been at Robbie Williams´ Knebworth concert....other concerts this size ?
Iron Maiden in Rio, I guess....but that´s not my kind of music....

Nichts ist fuer immer da

Nichts hat Bestand
Nicht mal das Leid
Und selbst die größte Scheiße
Geht mal vorbei

fuer immer

Ich sitze hier im Dunkeln
Die Zeit steht still

Sag mir, was hast Du getan
Denn Dein Licht brennt immer noch in mir

Für immer

Es war der Himmel und die Hölle
Was wir uns gaben
Wir spielten mit dem Feuer
Umso tiefer sind die Narben
Ein Traum ist kein Versprechen
Doch wir sind ziemlich hoch geflogen
Ging es um die Sterne
Oder haben wir uns belogen
Der Sprung ins Leere
Die Angst vorm Fallen
Das Entfachen des Feuers
Das Sterben der Flammen
Wohin führen unsere Wege
Wo bist Du in diesen Tagen
Ich kann Dich nicht vergessen
Ich rufe Deinen Namen

Unbelievable how few videos by New Model Army one can find on youtube

I also was looking for vids by Justin Sullivan, NMA´s singer, as I love his solo-album "Navigating by the stars"...something like the male equivalent to Heather Nova...at least to me, referring to touching my soul

Found one studio recording:

Justin Sullivan - Blue Ship

Age : 29
Size : 176 cm, ~83 kg

Job : Cabinetmaker/Carpenter
Hobbys : Sports, Music...both more passive than active ;)

Other bands I like : Weezer, Garbage, New Model Army, The Living End, Nirvana, Green Day ... rock music, as simple as that...

Marital Status : single, no kids

Update
My name still is Michael, and I still live in Waldniel, what is close to Moenchengladbach (or for those who don´t know it...let me mention Cologne).
Close to the dutch border....

As the age changes every year, I now am 30, but still 176 cm "tall"...weight changed a bit, now it´s about 80 kgs, but that´s not important anyway

I´m still cabinetmaker/ joiner/ carpenter and now work in the same company for about 9 years. My job led me to some nice places, as we build velodromes. Of course, that´s not the only work we do, all in all it´s simply carpentry, but in average about once a year we build a track.

I now have built (or was part of building) 6 tracks, most interesting places were Los Angeles in 2004, Melbourne in 2004, Invercargill (New Zealand) in 2006 and this summer the track for the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Luckily I had the chance to add a vacation after the installations were finished (except in China), and that took me to a lot of beautiful, impressing places.

Enough of that...

First time I heard of Heather was in 1994, it was "Walk this World" playing on the radio, and that made me curious.
So I bought "Oyster". From then on, I always paid attention to new releases by her, but still would not call me a big "fan"...ok, this depends on the definition of "being fan", but I don´t care too much about this anyway. I like listening to her music, and that´s it.
Keep it simple.

I try to be open-minded in music, but my "musical home" still is rockmusic; guitars and that stuff
Fast, loud, melodic would be the biggest room in my home, the other dominating room would be a bit more "silent"...Heather Nova, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash...

I think I already posted this link here, but I´ll do it again:
Last.fm
That´s a nice overview, although this only displays the music I listen to on the computer, I would say all in all it fits.

So, what else were people interested in in this thread ?
Heather concerts
I´ve never been to one. Anyway, I´m not going to concerts very often, and somehow it never happened to see her live.

But she was "soundtrack" when driving through California and Australia (no CD-player in the NZ-car ), and that´s why I have a lot of special memories and feelings about her music...ok, I loved her before, but somehow she meanwhile makes me think of these pictures, memories and feelings...touches areas in my soul like no other "outer influence".
Hard to describe everything, but you can probably comprehend...

So, what else can I talk about ?
Marital status still is single, and I still have no kids...and now there´s nothing left to talk about...I´ll forget about this "favourite ..." stuff

Ha !
Except the football/ soccer thing
My favourite team (MG) changed leagues for a year or two, and honestly, it got boring anyway
League 2 is much better this year, and so why not try something "new" ?
Last two matches were successful, and hopefully the next ones will also be
We will see....but now it really is enough for the moment..

Somehow nostalgic or sentimental...melancholic...

Supporting my memories of beautiful places with pictures I made there, trying to catch some of the feelings I had, to make them more alive...at the same time trying to fight the pain that those memories that were even better are not more than memories.....I`m thankful for all I´ve seen and like remembering it...but it´s "just" places, and I know I can go there again whenever I want, and that´s what lets me feel good about recalling....remembering what I had and knowing I can´t get it back is painful, nice in some way, but I can´t get it back...it hurts...I miss my heaven.

Ying and Yang somehow hold the level, at least, when I try to step outside myself and have a look at what I had....but all in all, there´s a loneliness I can´t stand anymore..."done drifting"....I am, definitely, and I would give everything I have or had to be the one she wants to spend her time with....give away the feelings I had when i saw and felt what I saw and felt and go back there with her...and even less, or in an easier way...to share it (whatever) with her, to have her at my side, in my hands, in my arms..."the sun will always rise" (just listening)...yes, she will, but she could kick the clouds out of the sky....
