Good grief . . . how is she ever going to increase her popularity in the US if she doesn't bother to play here? WHY DOES SHE HATE US CASSANDER?!?!? WHY?!?! It's no wonder why she's so popular with those Europeans . . . she's always performing for them! A little love back in the States could go a long way Heather!

I'm hopeful that my realistic side will win, although I'm not optimistic about it! I guess that's just the pessimist in me. (I can't decide whether adorn this post with a big grin emoticon or a crying emoticon. Ok . . . I've decided now).

Ok . . . time for me to look stupid . . . I thought the original version WAS the album version! Is there an earlier version than the one that appears on 300 Days at Sea or did you mean you prefer the acoustic version?

Oh WOW!!! I've never used Firefox before, but when I saw your post I decided to look into it . . . so I'm using Firefox now, and I downloaded the Soundcloud download helper and was able to download The Recovery Position & Heather Nova collaboration SIMPLE AS PIE!!! Thank you Bernd!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! This is GREAT!!!

Added the song to my iTunes library and as I always like to have album art I put "The Recovery Position & Heather Nova" in Google images and came up with the below photo which is perfect. It looks like the song is either called "Call" or else whoever put together the picture felt like he or she needed to call it something and went with "Call." I like it. I've decided to call it that in iTunes. Does anybody know whether this is actually the name of the song?

Thanks again Bernd!!! It looks like there are a NUMBER of excellent "download helpers" with Firefox . . . things to rip YouTube videos onto your computer, things to rip mp3 files from YouTube videos . . . ALL SORTS OF COOL THINGS!!! I can't wait to play around with this browser!!!

I'd like to say I don't but I do so I can't and I won't but I would if I could.

I just read an article today explaining that more and more young people (defined in the article as 15 - 24 years old) are spending less and less time on Facebook because it's starting to be "boring." These are people with hundreds if not thousands of Facebook "friends" and complain that they have to wade through too much garbage that people post, e.g., stupid jokes, obnoxious political rhetoric, photographs of friends' breakfasts, photographs of friends' cousins' breakfasts that show up on your newsfeed because your friend "liked" it, etc., etc. Older folks are't ditching it yet because they're relative newcomers to Facebook and are less likely therefore to have 1,650 "Friends" posting inane crap.

My kids have largely abandoned Facebook for Twitter. By the time I decide to figure Twitter out and start an account, I suspect that will be on its way out and there will be something else. I'm always a few years behind the popular technology of the day! That reminds me . . . does anybody know where I can get a copy of 300 Days at Sea on cassette?

I adore everything of hers that you listed, with the exception of the aforementioned Juvenilia EP. She also has a great five-track EP called Comeandgetit that was originally a download-only offering that came out between Liz Phair and Somebody's Miracle. I highly recommend it!

I've only seen her live once when she was touring with Jason Mraz. She was amazing, but she didn't play very long and 85% of the audience was there to see Mraz (who also put on a great show, but I was there for Liz). The image of her performing HWC while wearing a see-through shirt will forever be indelibly imprinted on my mind. It was also hilarious to see the reactions from all the Mraz fans when she sang Flower.

Thanks for the info Bernd . . . it seems awful to me that artists make less than 11 cents out of a $1.29 song. What a racket!

I tried to buy this from the DGM Shop when it first came out but I was a little late and it was sold out. I sent their customer service an email begging for them to make more and they told me they probably would and would "keep my name on the list" and email me if they replenished their supply.

So about two weeks ago they sent me an email letting me know they were adding a few to the shop - I put in an order and just got mine a couple days ago!!! GREAT STUFF!!!

OH MAN!!! I LOVE LIZ PHAIR!!! Which cd of hers were you listening to Bernd? I like everything from Exile in Guyville to Funstyle (although I can't say I'm a big fan of the Juvenilia EP)

Right now, I've been listening to the new Eleanor McEvoy cd (If You Leave...) and Frag' Den Abendwind by Françoise Hardy.

Actually, I loved her version of Stayin' Alive!

I just bought the new cd by "The Irish Heather Nova" (Eleanor McEvoy) and it contains a great cover of God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. I'd love to see Heather play something like God Only Knows!

OK . . . so I just bought this on iTunes to show my support for her because I LOVE HER SO MUCH but single edits are always a little silly because they're never anything more than the album versions with a few seconds lopped off (ok . . . this one has just over a minute chopped out).

Anyhow, does anybody have any idea how much of the $1.29 I paid goes to Heather? I've always been mystified by the royalties part of the music business.

Bonjour Laurent! Welcome! If you were three years older I may have asked whether your last name was "Boutonnat!" I'm obsessed with Heather as well as Mylène Farmer . . . perhaps you've heard of Mylène? Heading to Paris in September to see two of her shows at Bercy! Sorry . . . this is the Heather Nova forum, not the Mylène Farmer forum, but I just got really excited when I saw you were from France and your name was Laurent!

Good points Dunsinane! Actually, I have tickets to see Mylène Farmer (for the first time) at the Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy on September 8th and 10th of this year! Perhaps if I'm lucky Heather Nova will be touring somewhere close by when I'm there! That would be SO SWEET!!!

Your "yearly dose of Heather Live?!?!?" Having NEVER seen Heather live, I'm just hoping I don't die a "Heather Live Virgin!" I can't believe I've never seen her before. I'm so ashamed . . .

Feral asked:
has anyone heard the song "The Wave"

Yes. It's a minute and 27 seconds long and was originally on The Sorrowjoy. It's Heather reciting (i.e., not "singing") one of her poems to some amelodic noise (ok . . . "ambient music") of Felix Tod. It's one of those memorable and thematic anthems that makes you want to pump your fist in the air and jump into a mosh pit.

Well - everything I wrote is true except that last sentence. It doesn't make you want to pump your fist in the air and jump into a mosh pit. I was just kidding about that part. It actually made me feel quite reassured that I had made the right decision in neglecting to buy The Sorrowjoy. But that's just me.

BTW, where has cappy been lately? I hope he's not mad about the Obama/Romney thread ...
