Brilliant gig at the Scala London last night. Heather and the band rocked and I got the distinct impression that everyone there loved it.
Great atmosphere and the sound was superb. Highlights of the set for me were 'Island', 'Winter Blue', 'Do Something That Scares You', 'Good Ship Moon', 'London Rain' and 'Maybe Tomorrow'. The night was capped off by a storming rendition of 'Sugar' for the second encore. It was 2 years ago that Heather last played in London and I really hope she returns sooner as she's always given a warm welcome over here.

Bought 'Metals' by Feist and love it. I think that she is another singer/songwriter, like Heather, who is difficult to pigeon hole as a particular genre, but her music is original and often brilliant.
Have also been playing 'Paper Airplane' by Alison Krauss & The Union Station, which is a very good album too.

Learn to be a carpenter/cabinet maker, so that I could give up my current job and do something creative.
Visit a tropical island paradise (The Maldives, Seychelles). Play The Old Course at St Andrews, The Ocean Course at Pebble Beach and The Stadium Course at Sawgrass. And finally, but sadly impossible, travel back in time to late in 1993 and say "yes" to a question from a very special friend who passed away in May 1994. Rarely does a day go by when she is not in my thoughts x

Saw Heather perform 'Walk This World' live on the White Room on C4 on the TV. Heard the song again the following week on the Mark and Lard show on Radio 1.
I thought "I really like that" so I bought my first Heather Nova album 'Oyster' and the rest is history ![]()

Great news that Heather has announced a London gig, so I'll definitely be going to this one.
Having been to the last 4 shows that Heather has played in our capital, I really hope this one will be with a full band. The two acoustic shows, at Cabot Hall and The Union Chapel, were great, but I enjoyed the two Shepherds Bush Empire gigs with a full band so much more. Here's hoping ![]()

On first listen, I was a little unsure about the whole album, although 'The Good Ship Moon' struck me straight away as one of the most beautiful songs that Heather has ever written and it's my clear favourite on the album.
However, the more I've listened to '300 Days At Sea', the more I've grown to love it. There is a distinct possibility that in time, it will be regarded as perhaps Heather's best album and it's certainly going to given 'Siren' and 'Oyster' a run for their money. The first five tracks provide a strong start to the album, but it's from 'Do Something That Scares You' (which I also love) that it really gets going and 'Until The Race Is Run' and 'Stay' provide a very satisfying close to the collection. It's quite reassuring that in producing her eighth studio album, Heather has managed to come up with such a great collection of songs. We just need to see her back in the Uk to showcase them live later in the year ![]()

It's been a while, but I thought I'd sign in and say "Hi" to everyone on the HNN Forums.
I've made the occasional visit to browse for news on Heather and to see what's been happening. Great to see that the new album is progressing and looking like an early summer release. Equally good news for us fans in the UK is the news that Heather's going to tour here again (hopefully with a full band). Hope everyone is well and anjoying the weekend Sparky

Hi Heather
Hope that you are well. I've been a fan of yours since I saw your performance on the 'White Room' on Channel 4 back when Oyster was released and your music has been a great source of enjoyment ever since. My musical tastes were influenced in my teens by the late, great John Peel on Radio 1, so I listened to The Skids, killing Joke, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Blondie, all the Punk/New Wave stuff of the late 70's to mid 80's. I consider my tastes to be pretty broad, but I always lean towards music with a rock/alternative feel. What music did you listen to growing up and have your tastes changed very much as you've got older? Also, and this can be a difficult question to answer, as it can depend on your feelings at the time, but what are your All-Time 5 favourite songs? Finally, have you considered making an appearance on 'Later, with Jools Holland' ? Take care of yourself Much Love Sparky

It's certainly a song that divides opinion, that's for sure.
I'm giving my Mum the cd tomorrow, so I'll update on here when she's had a chance to check it out.

All of the artists I'd like to see are rock bands, hardly a surprise as my tastes tend to lean that way...
Green Day Kings Of Leon Metallica AC/DC and my all-time favourites, Pearl Jam. I would loved to have seen Killing Joke when they were at their peak, particularly as they're widely recognized as a major influence for a lot of current bands. Some of their stuff from the early 80's is awesome.

My Mum has pretty eclectic taste. She'll listen to anything from Queen to classical, Blondie to country. She loved the album 'Raising Sand' that Robert Plant did with Alison Krauss.
I thought about giving her a copy of 'The Jasmine Flower', but Heather has such a broad catalogue of songs, that it'd be a shame to leave some of her other stuff off a play-list. She does like to sing-a-long (or hum if she doesn't know the lyrics ) especially in the car.Christina's selection is pretty good and wouldn't be far off my own.

Hi All
I know that there have been tournaments and various polls on HNN about favourite songs by Heather, but I have a question. I'm going to put together a playlist of 20 songs by Heather for my Mum to listen to as an introduction to the music of the wonderful Bermudan. I have my own ideas on the 20 songs, but would anyone care to share their ideas on a playlist that they would put together for their Mum ? Sparky

Hi Carlina
Even if you hadn't been sent the link for photos of you on stage on Friday, I'm sure there are enough witnesses on the forums who could tell your son how well you did. Thanks for the reply to my comments about your YouTube video. "The Girl Done Good" Sparky

It happened yesterday, Heather's gig at the Union Chapel.
Stunning performance. Would have loved to have stayed behind to meet Heather afterwards, but unfortunately, I had to be up early this morning to go to work. Booo !!!

Still buzzin' from last night's gig
Have to echo Howard's comments, the performance was brilliant, probably the best I've seen from Heather. And how good was 'Sugar' ? Stunning ![]() Will definitely be downloading the gig later ![]()

I've just ordered my ticket for the Union Chapel gig.
With luck, Heather will turn this one into a live DVD like the last gig here.

I took my Dad to The Emirates Stadium today to watch Arsenal play Blackburn Rovers.
He absolutely loved it, especially as Arsenal played some superb football and battered Blackburn 4-nil......and it should have been 7 or 8!! My Dad is 71 in a couple of weeks time and he's still a legend to me and my brother. He has Parkinson's (fortunately his symptoms are fairly mild) and has forgetful and shaky moments, but it does him good to get out and try to be a normal as possible. It was great to see him jump out of his seat at every goal or near miss. Love him to bits ![]()

Hi All
I've been out of the loop a bit so have not caught up with the forums for a couple of weeks. A BIG THANK YOU for the birthday messages. I had a quiet one, didn't really celebrate on the day, but am going to make up for it later this month I had a case of Guinness and Supernatural Season 3 on DVD from my teammates at work. My old team bought me the movie 'Eden Lake' on dvd (very disturbing movie) and a Mountain Biking Techniques dvd (needed as I want to start hitting some trail centres in the spring). My parents and brother gave me money to put towards a new dining table for my apartment. Later.. Sparky ![]()
