Stripped down is o.k. for me, but only if it sounds as finished as in "Nothing", "TSWAR" and the like...

But I don't want to be misunderstood: "Higher Ground" sounds pretty good to me, even in this version!

Great Song even if it sounds as if in pre-production stage. The simplicity reminds me of "Nothing".

That's a nice album! I read somewhere that it was produced by Air and so I got interested in it and listened to some clips on amazon. I liked them immedieately and bought the album the next day. It reminds me a lot of Moon Safari and some other of the better Air stuff. The piano is a nice addition.

That song sounds not bad to me. It reminds me of the collabo with ATB some years ago. I hope it will come out as a single. Schiller is very well known here, so I think with Mensano Heather could gain a bit more attention than with her past internet-only singles.

I use BitTornado as well for dime. It's small and works fine.

As a frontend for audio decompression I use Multi frontend, it's only 60kb big. It can convert flac, shn, mp3, mpc and many more formats. But all codecs have to be installed separately.

Saw some snippets from "Syriana" on TV. That movie seems to be quite interesting. I think I'll try to watch it somewhere.

And ? Weren't they desastrous ?

I've seen them once live on TV and they were horrible. It was impossible to recreate the huge sound they had on their albums with all those orchestra-samples, effects, backing vocals and so on on stage. They were a pure studio-band, the live-songs I heard lacked of nearly ...everything

First time someone mentions them in this forum (besides me).

I read they are re-uniting but with another singer. Who knows what really comes up...

I'm already awaiting their next single which comes out in one or two weeks, I think it's "Stranger". It has two unreleased tracks on it.

Hmm. I'm not so sure. It could be said for other bands from their time but here, i'd disagree. Just my opinion, of course. The Rolling Stones especially sound extremely fresh.

For me they have the typical song-style, -rhythm of the 60ies, like many other bands of that time. That's just not fully my taste. My taste begins mainly and slowly around the late 60ies, with artists like Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Hendrix, Oldfield and so on. Everything before I only like sporadically. I guess that's the reason I don't like classic music or Gloomy Sunday and sorta not so much.

Where's option three "Neither / nor" ? Both bands are ok, but I don't really listen to them. Their sound is too aged for me.
But I really like "Live And Let Die", I think it's from Paul McCartney or Wings or so.

Oh, don't take the %s literally. 83% doesn't mean that I don't like exactly 2,72 songs. It's more an overall feeling. I like Aerial a lot, but it's a bit tough, thick (zäh) which makes it not as good as the much more accessible "Hounds Of Love" to me.

So which cds do you completely like?

I guess I'm too picky

I even can't remember right now which CDs I completely like. Have to re-listen to some...
But I remember some of 2005 that were close to complete:

Heather - Redbird - 92% good
Madonna - Confessions - 86 %
Editors - The Back Room - 88 %

I find it funny when people say stuff like, "that cd is good cos there're only a few songs that i don't like". For me, a good cd is when i like everything. If not, it's an ok cd.
But i guess you were being ironic. (ironical?)

Nono, I was damn serious. If I had to like every song on a CD to rate it good, I could count them on two hands There's usually always something on an album what I don't like a lot

Hey, 2005 was one of my favourite years in music, too. so many awesome new releases with more than only four good songs on an album. I think it was my second best year since... 1985

Same for me. Her voice is too original for me. After a while I get annoyed by that unique style. But after a long break I always like her again.

Redbird's biggest problem is its lyrics, not its genre. The music can be a bit lacking sometimes as well, but it's the lyrics that drags the whole thing down into oftentimes triteness.

Lyrics usually aren't very important in the pop-genre. It's more about accessible sound & melodies.
