Hey guys-haven't posted here in forever but I'll be in Annapolis tonight and at the Tin Angel tomorrow-so cool she's finally touring the U.S.

glad to see her still touring a lot--always plays that pinkpop festival doesn't she? I think I need to visit next time, I love the Netherlands. Even if it's a lot of the same places, still good that she tours almost every year.
Will probably be in Europe this fall, but earlier in October around my b-day. Well, I'll see her one day, I still listen to her music all the time, especially the older stuff(1990s). Was just thinking of her lately, listening again and checking the latest online. Is there a comprehensive page with all of her tour dates and setlists? I know there used to be some trading sites that had a ton of info, even had artwork. If I can't see the shows, it's cool to at least read the info--lol--should've gone to NYC--
Cheers--

it's funny to read the U.S. news story about this, like Bermuda is just a bunch of wealthy people who have to protect their yachts.

yeah, I remember Fraggle Rock--it was on HBO, as opposed to PBS(U.S. public television/educational). I knew about the Between the Lions thing, but didn't realize he was part of Fraggle Rock.

is she pregnant again? It almost looks like she's wearing maternity clothes in that pic that Johan posted, with the green top.

they might remaster it, although I certainly wouldn't re-record it. The thing is, this album was never widely available, you can't find it anywhere in U.S. record stores, and I never even knew it existed until I started reading HN websites in '98. So a reissue could certainly get people interested in part of her music that a lot don't know about.

there was some real talk of something like this for the Frith ep, but so far nothing has come of it.

I always thought she should cover "The Ocean" by Led Zeppelin.

that's one of my fav Zeppelin songs, and I think she could do a good version of it.

I'm sure she could still sell out a club tour, maybe even more. We could speculate all day, but it's like you said--she ain't gonna do it. I've accepted that--although I guess it's easier to accept for those of us who aren't interested much in her more recent material.

well, speaking as someone who has been disappointed over her lack of touring and album availability outside of Europe, and inquiring about it at various times over the past four or five years, I feel pretty safe in saying that she's made a conscious decision not to do much of anything outside Europe anymore.

the sooner you accept this fact, the better off you'll be. Since the release of South, and her fallout with V2 in 2001/02, she's mostly cut herself off from the non-Euro markets(except for iTunes), and after so many years it would be a lot like starting over again in those countries(the U.S. and Asia). She clearly doesn't want to do what it would take to re-establish herself here again.

and frankly, as a U.S. fan going back to 1995, who has never seen her live, I'm not sure if I really care much anymore--considering her two most recent studio albums, I'm not really interested much in live shows where she's playing so many of those songs.
although I liked the sounds of her recent "stipped down" shows, and she could certainly do something like that here--but I just know she won't, so whatever.

I guess I have an "unofficial" videos DVD--but a new one would be nice--there are some live performance clips that I'd want to be on there if I did buy it. A couple of MTV performances, and an accoustic performance of "Mothertongue" with Felix Tod in her apartment. It's the oldest video of her performing that I've seen, she definitely looks younger.

I used to have it on my old work computer, through Kazaa.

I definitely like the Star album. That was a good period of time for rock 'n roll. A lot of bands like Belly and the Breeders and many others were getting attention and airplay that other equally good bands didn't get during the 1980s.

When I think about it, it seems like maybe the beginning of the end for the old music business, shortly before the internet really took off and major labels and radio stations lost power.

yeah, this kind of thing does bother me, but not so much anymore, because my interest in seeing her live has dwindled along with my interest in her recent albums.

she could easily do some east coast shows here, and I would go to see her, but I'm not going out of my way and spending a couple thousand dollars to see her overseas or driving way the hell up to Maine just for maybe one song or whatever.

she could play clubs in NYC, Philly, and DC, and I might even go to see two or three of them--but why do that when she can play the same fucking club or festival in Germany or Benelux for the 300th time?

I once spent the summer on one of the islands off the coast of Maine, North Haven, with a friend and his family who have a summer home there.

You might be able to get a flight into Portland Maine, I think that's the biggest city, that's where I flew from Philadelphia--then I had to take a bus up the coast. It was really nice in the summer--but now I'm sure it's freezing.

I'm sure she's not playing a real concert though--I guess the last time she visited the U.S. was to record Storm.

If she's still into sailing, I'd think that she would like a tour of the east coast here, since there's a lot of ports and sailing communities along the way. I think that's why she was in Annapolis once("Just Passing Through" bootleg)
But whatever, she won't do it.

Taoism? Daoism? I heard her say something like that. She also said something about believing in some sort of spiritual world beyond this--which seems to be apparent in some of her songs.

oh, yeah, "soft drink" is just another name for soda too. I think that one is because they're non-alcoholic. that is, unless you mix it with alcohol, which many of us do.

just to make this more confusing, there are some places in the U.S. where they refer to soda(coke, sprite, etc.) as "pop". I think this is a shortened version of what they used to call "soda pop", which is what almost everyone used to call coke or sprite or whatever.
I guess some people decided to shorten it to "soda" and others "pop".

I discovered that a yahoo search for hn produces more interesting stuff than google--like that interviews page. Nothing spectacular, a lot of older stuff from the Siren era and earlier--

some lucky guy who saw her twice in the U.S.--

matt's page

one of the first HN sites that I found when I first started using the internet--

blue black

two concert reviews from California, 1995--

"she's an angel"

the "number one" HN site doesn't have anything but one page of very colorful pics--

#1

I know I posted this picture on the old forums, but I just think this dress she's wearing is funny--

cosmos dress

44.39% think that HN is annoying!

am I annoying

something more recent, she's listed as one of womenfolk's "cover girls", for the Wicked Game cover--a brief but positive mention--

cover girl

I think this one is fairly well known, but it's a good overview of her albums up through Storm, with an extensive interview and two concert reviews--

musical discoveries

god, I'm bored...

has anyone seen or posted this before? the page has several interviews available to download. I only listened to the oldest one from '94/95--it's almost thirty minutes long, and you can't hear the questioner too well, but her voice is clear. I think it's the dictaphone from a print journalist's interview.

I thought Fanta was orange soda? I guess they make other fruit-flavored sodas too. I remember it was more popular in Amsterdam, not as much over here.

I always liked Orangina, I think it has more real orange juice in it.

pics from a recent concert--I guess she really doesn't look much different than ten years ago--

link

still one of the most ridiculous articles I've ever seen--

"interview"

an old review of south, which is one of the more positive that I've ever read--

review

some very small fan forum--

tribe

anyone have the 2002 Werchter boot? This guy says he proposed to her there, I guess he didn't know she was already married--

storyproposal story

and this, are you compatable with HN based on biorythms? Not sure if they even got her birthday right, is it 1968 or 67? Anyway, it said I was over 90% compatable in the intellectual and physical categories, but only 11% in emotional. So I guess it wouldn't work out.

I went to Amsterdam once in January, and I totally loved it.

there was at least one day, when we visited the Hague, that it really rained bad, other than that it was just sort of overcast and drizzley, but not very cold compared to where I live.
for me, a holiday or vacation means visiting some place that I've never seen before--I'm used to bad weather, so that doesn't really bother me.

although I would like to visit Amsterdam again, it's like Disneyland for adults. Especially if you like coffee.

I was just kidding about not touring in Germany though, no doubt she'll find her way back there.

did I read those tour dates right--she's not playing any shows in Germany? If that's true, then it's the most shocking thing I've ever read, ever.
Then again, you can get from Germany to those other countries faster than I can drive across just my own state.
