Gerd -

You must have lucked out, because it was 10 Euros for me (about $15.24 USD).

I checked again and heathernova.com still says 10 Euros for the show.

Check your e-mail to see if they sent you an e-mail from the heathernova.com website.

I received an e-mail last night that said Felix was aware of the issue with some people not getting that track unzipped without error, and they are working on it. They will also add the second encore if I remember correctly what the e-mail said.

They get your e-mail from PayPal, so make sure to check the address for your PayPal account.

Heather did a really energetic acoustic version of "Sugar" in the Intimate Evening Tour a few years ago with Fiona Pears really working her violin.

At the very end of the song, Heather says, "Who needs guitar when you have that?"

I remember in another show, can't remember, maybe Knust? where she asks for song requests and someone yells "Sugar." She says, "Someone wants me to do an acoustic version of Sugar. That would be really rocking." and she laughed.

It reminds me how the Finnish group Apocalyptica (http://www.apocalyptica.com/) work their four cellos and produce some very energetic music. Their videos are worth checking out on YouTube. I first heard of them when I heard the theme song for the game "Max Payne 2" and recognized a live cello played by a talented musician, rather than a synthesized version.

The soundboard quality is very nice on these, very clear.

I'm looking forward to the next ones.

Hopefully Heather and Felix are planning to select the best among these and eventually produce another live album.

That's a good suggestion for a cover, where I think she could do a really good interpretation in capturing the spirit of the song. I recall that Raul Malo (The Mavericks) did a nice take of "All That Heaven Will Allow" from the same "Tunnel Of Love" album. His version used his mellifluous Roy Orbison-like voice and imbued the song with a certain sweetness.

One that comes to mind for me that I'd love see see Heather Nova or someone of her musical skills covering is a hauntingly sweet song by Tanya Donelly/Belly called "Sweet Ride." There's an acoustic version on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuM6ByWEHkw

But the original B-Side with a pedal-steel guitar and Juliana Hatfield harmonizing is even better. There's a fairly long clip of it here that showcases the pedal-steel (last song on the list):

Here is "Winterblue" (Paint It Black version) from Darmstadt that Gerd posted, now in Windows Media Video format. Also the Audio extracted from the video in WAV format. Also another video version of "Heal" from Paradiso that unfortunately begins a little after the music started, but is a good quality and close video.

FYI - The YouTube videos you linked to (uploaded by LysWant) are the videos I converted to Windows Media Video format and uploaded. I also extracted the Audio from them and uploaded that in my other post.

In case anyone wants to get those videos. LysWant's versions were the best of the ones uploaded for Paradiso.

I extracted the audio from many of the videos that were uploaded to YouTube.

Here they are in WAV format:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MJERKEDC

Notes:

1) I faded in and faded out each song, since these were random clips that did not follow one another in sequence

2) I ranked the sets of songs by Letter (A through E) for what I perceive to be the quality, based on proximity to stage, quality of sound, and whether the audio showed signs of compression before it was uploaded to YouTube (a couple of these were already fairly lossy before being uploaded)

Here is a package of videos (Windows Media Format) captured from YouTube uploads by various users. Some of the videos are pretty good quality:

If anyone has a full video of this or another concert and would like me to extract the audio from it and cut it into tracks, let me know and I would be happy to do that.

I captured three YouTube videos uploaded by RenateRockss (http://www.youtube.com/user/RenateRockss) and converted them to Windows Media Video format.

They are:

All I Need
Walk This World (the beginning is cut off, unfortunately)
Island

Note: This is audience-recorded from some distance at an angle from the stage.

As far as I know, the Sorrowjoy book is out of print now.

Every once in awhile, one of them shows up on eBay but is often fairly expensive if people notice it and start bidding.

I don't recall hearing them in other versions. She has only improvised a few songs that I recall, most recently the "Boys of Summer" addition to "Winter Blue." And I suppose the "firefly dreams" spoken word she has done before (is that in "Just Been Born?" I can't seem to remember).

Here is the audio for the concert in FLAC format:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C043V98L

I originally extracted the audio from the video using Creative WAV Studio. It is divided into tracks (I extract audio from all my concert DVDs).

The lyrics you want are:

Yeah, all along the desert plains
On the wide Sierra
In the blue mountains
Through the valleys
To the Himalayas
And the Black Forest
To the Red Sea
And all the rivers running
Oh, won’t you come
Walk this world with me

And after that she returns to the final verse of the regular version of the song.

I keep looking for "Texas" on the list :(

I envy one of my co-workers who is now in Brussels working at the home office. Alas, he is not a Heather Nova fan.

As a Texan, I think it's cool that people are coming from Europe to the show. I would love to fly across the country myself, but given the economic times, it doesn't work so well for me. Now, if she was playing in Austin that would be a different story...
